A note for people watching me: If you're wondering why I'm so inactive and you're not watching my scraps, you might be missing out on a whole lot! I do a quite a lot of sketching that doesn't make it to my main gallery!!

A few months ago, I stayed up all night ( notice the time stamp for this is around 10AM ) and REALLY wanted to draw, but didn't want to draw anything too substantial or time-consuming... so I drew my chickens doing chicken-things.

Originally I was going to post this in a sketch dump, black and white... however, it stood on its own fairly well, and then ~Yaakova said she'd like to colour it if she had a reference for colours... so I coloured the first panel for her reference, then realised that the panel with the three other chickens would have to have colour references, too, and.... the whole thing became coloured. >.>

Up top from right-to-left is: Bo ( 1/4 barred Plymouth Rock, 3/4 Rhode Island Red cockerel ), Faust ( 1/4 barred Plymouth Rock, 1/4 Rhode Island Red, 1/2 Welsummer pullet ), Ziggy, and Eddie ( both Ameraucana pullets ).

The other three are: Mop ( Sizzle; 1/2 Silkie, 1/2 frizzled Cochin pullet ), Rutherford ( guessing 1/2 Dutch bantam, 1/2 Belgian D'anver cockerel ), and Liza ( Silkie pullet ).

The top was very common place when Faust first went into lay, and Ziggy followed soon after. Eddie still hasn't gone into lay yet, but she doesn't show any male characteristics... just a late bloomer, I guess!

When I first put Rutherford in with Mop and Liza, Mop DID actually sit on him, and Liza danced around him clucking quite irately! It was adorable. Although in this comic I seem to have forgotten that Liza has feathered feet... Whoops!

And yes, Eddie sits on all the other chickens... but while I was drawing this, she was pestering Bo. Eddie has pretty, pretty red eyes.
