Description
I thought I'd share a screen shot mockup I created for a new game we're making at Halfbot. I just posted a new blog on our site about indie development and our plans for this next game. Go give it a read if you are into that sort of thing.Halfbot Blog

I've been using Photoshop for over 18years. So it's my bread and butter. Illustrator ties your hands more as an artist but it allows you to produce vector art...which comes in handy for resizing images. However, I prefer the freedom Photoshop allows me. I just produce my art at a higher dpi to avoid any issues with resizing art.

hey derek I was just reading your comments below. When you're doing a mockup like this for a client is there any reason you'd choose photoshop over illustrator? do the games have to be created with vector graphics or it really doesn't matter?

Ya. I've seen people do it in a number of different programs. Just wondering what you use.

I use photoshop CS 5 to create my assets and I plan to use Spine to animate the characters.

Cool! I'd love to see your process. I've never heard of Spine, I'll have to look into that! Thanks.

I really love this kind of graphics... man a question for you, could you please tell me how to learn to program in flash? or something, how did you learn to do games? my passion and my dream is to make games

I just do the art for our games. I work with a programmer that handles all the technical side of it
Best advice is to try out some flash tutorials online...then if you dig it go find a course at a local college. That would be a good start.

Thanks man, I think the online tutorials are done to me ... and I really like the ActionScript... now I want to do games but I missed a lot of knowledge
... I think I'm gonna risk and take the course
. Thanks man! Good Job on the design of the game.

Stencyl and Scratch are good flash development enviroments for beginners, since they feature graphical drag&drop scripting
