We have Mammoths, So why not Mastodons?

Mostly Swampy, Forested Planets.

Habitat:

open spruce woodlands, spruce forests and marsh.

Predators it deals with:

Deinochyus

Mastadons are Elephant-like creatures part of the order known as Proboscidea which includes them, Mammoths and other Elephant Like animals. While they are similiar, they are different. Mastodon were shorter and stockier than mammoths with shorter, straighter tusks. Mastodons were wood browsers and their molars have pointed cones specially adapted for eating woody browse. Mammoths were grazers, their molars have flat surfaces for eating grass.

They are quite widespread in the universe, And has adapted to living in cool woodlands, marshes and forests with spruce. Mastodon social life is with adult females and young living in herds, and mature males remaining mostly solitary. Both males and females had tusks, though males’ were larger and used for competition during the breeding season.

For eating they have specialized teeth with high, pointed crowns worked well for chewing on leaves and twigs. Mastodons deal with a variety of Predators most notably Dire Wolves, Cave Lions, Deinochyus, Tarbosaurus, Arctodus and Smilodon.

The Mastodon like most creatures in the Universe are important to cultures, As some nomadic tribes hunt them for their hides, meat and tusks. Much the like the Mammoth, Mastodons were nearly hunted to extinction for their ivory but thankfully have managed to make a comeback.
