There has not always to be a winner when there's a loser - you can lose due to bad luck or your own bad decisions (this might be the case with her). There are also plenty of occasions where every involved party loses.
And regarding your question below why her cast is covered with rather mean signatures: Maybe she gets teased or even bullied by other people, maybe it's just bantering between friends.
It's open to your own interpretation - imagine whatever suits your vision.
