Aw man, I wish I had seen this before attempting this drawing: iamkathybrown.deviantart.com/a⦠It always looked wrong after the fact, but I could not put my finger on why. Also, I've been drawing hands on hips wrong this whole time!

so draw it again! And then draw it one more time after that. I always found my third attempt to be the best when drawing poses

thanks so much for this, first time doing hands on hips and it's made even harder because the character i am drawing doesn't have normal human hands (she has claw like hands)

I still have the hardest time drawing hands on hips; they always come out at too much of a right angle. This is incredibly helpful, though; thank you so much!

Thanks a lot! Your tutorial has helped me get down stances amazingly. Kinda new to drawing, so it's a bit of a learning curve >.<

I'll be putting more tutorials up in the future (more hands and some feet, etc.), I hope those help you too!

This is honestly brilliant! Thank you so much for making this! You saved a hands-on-hips pose from giving me a horrendous headache, you did.
Love the face on the lower lefthand body there. It had me giggling while I was reading this!

Great tutorial, looks so clean and professionalish. The little faces are a nice element of entertainment.
You did ask for improvement ideas earlier, so I'll tell you what I've often thought:
If I ever made a tutorial I'd put everything in a pdf file. It'd be the best way to get all the information in one file, and parts of it wouldn't ever mysteriously vanish (it happens a lot online. I've seen many great tutorials that weren't so great when I found myself shouting at the monitor "What!? No part #!?"

I used this as a straight up stock reference for a sketch ([link] ) instead of just a tutorial, but if that was a misuse then please let me know & I'll take it down. Either way, this was very clear and helpful, thanks for posting it.

DerSketchie In reply to Mae-chan [2011-03-16 08:05:59 +0000 UTC]
I'd have to be totally ridiculous to put up a tutorial only to berate those who are helped by it You're very welcome!

Mae-chan In reply to DerSketchie [2011-03-16 15:43:45 +0000 UTC]
I was confused because I really did use it as stock instead, which is different, but am being totally honest here... sorry, just new to this, I never use tutorials. Thanks so much!
