This was my entry to TMMN's Blue's Valentine Contest . Well, the entry I sent in had text. Compositionally, it looks better with text, but none of the other deviations in my featured folder have text, so I took it out. I dunno if it detracts or not. I kept the text in the final on my process link.I showed this to a friend, and he asked me if I'm anti-Valentine's Day. :S Not at all! I was going for an inspirational pic. Instead of being sad, you can pet a cat and wait for next year!

My 'secret' for inking/coloring/shading is the pen tool. I started using this tutorial then figure the rest out as I go.

Now I need to figure out how to get my hands on Photoshop since I've been using GIMP. For GIMP is nice and free. XD Or see if I can do something similar with GIMP.
I was actually vaguely thinking it was something to do with gradients, just had no idea how to do it.

Sometimes I do a little with gradients. You can do a neat effect if you make a path using the pen tool in photoshop outlining where you want the shadow to be, turn the path into a selection, then use the gradient tool to color that selection.

Haha, it's actually a character named Tango from Mega Man V (gameboy). He's seen in the item shop too when you play as Proto Man.
