An enthralling visual. The colouration is vivid, luminous and flowing, and involves great variation, but it all comes together properly on an even colour palette. The lighting on the lady's hair and skin is in noticeable yet not sharp contrast to the shaded areas, influencing a soft yet very apparent mood meant to be conveyed. The lacy wings of the butterflies add to the ethereal quality of the picture, as does the faded, blended colouring of the background. Finally, the gentle, neutral curve of her supple, beautifully detailed lips, and the resigned way she keeps her eyes closed, as though she is still looking downwards somehow, almost seems to command in the onlooker a moment of respect and consideration for her mild sadness. A picture that evokes more and more thought in the beholder, the longer they gaze upon it.
As a final note, I like how the headphones she's wearing seem to blend into her hair, due to the colouring and shading. It took me until well into writing this critique before I even realized they were there.
