Description
Blue was for a long time my favorite color, and in fungi it's relatively rare. Welcome to a new #ShroomySaturday drawing.Related content

Recently, I have been thinking quite a lot about.... mushrooms
and here is my conclusion: they are one of the greatest creations of the Universe... full of B vitamins and arcane knowledge contained within their spores... I thank mushrooms, for all their mysterious and delicious gifts of nature....
And of course thank you too, Universe, for the moon, dirt, rain, mud, worms, caterpillars, grass, moths, trees, frogs, lizards, bees, snails, slugs, cows, rats, and bats that all contribute to the existence and life cycle of mushrooms. You are all amazing and I love every one of you....

Ahhh this is so soft and pretty and makes me so happy to look at~!
And for some reason they reminded me of jellyfish and now all I want is to fill a fantasy forest with jellyfish shrooms that dance on the air like glowing sprites... *happy sigh*

*fluster flail* Ohmygosh. I don't think anyone's ever told me that before! I'm constantly looking at other artists and wishing I had their creativity. But I guess we all want for different things in that regard too.
And gosh you're more than welcome! *blushies* Let me know if you'd ever like to collaborate too.

Hahaha... I love your descriptions of physical reactions. It makes me think you are a very flamboyant and vivacious person. Although I know that in most cases, people are far more restrained in their show of emotions in real life. Anyway, you seem like a fun person to be around.
Looking through your portfolio you seem very good at watercolours, am I right? I would love to collaborate with you, I just can't guarantee a timeline for our collab... Did you have something in mind specifically? Let me know. You can private message me, so we keep it a surprise for the others.

I know, blue is not something you see every dayΒ in fungi. It used to be my favourite colour too, and I still like it. But at some point, I got over-saturated with it and I migrated towards warmer colours.

if were green perhaps but they are neon blue!

Actually, it's just radium, uranium and tritium that glow green. Nuclear reactors show a type of radiation called 'Cherenkov Radiation' that glows neon blue. There's also Actinium which is a radioactive element that glows a nuance of blue.
Yeah, I know, I'm a walking Encyclopaedia and I probably bore people to death.

How can so strange and wonderful mushrooms exist ?! They must be from another magic world !
But anyway you make a beautiful painting ! The contrast between the dark brown of the light blue of the mushrooms enhances them and strengthens the impression that they're not of our world (in my opinion of course).

They actually are a real type of mushroom. Rather small and overlookable.

Sparkly, glowy alien blue shrooms. Eat them and you'll be zombified!Β
Jokes aside, I love your mushroom paintings, you make them look magical. I don't know how you do it.Β

Awww... thank you! I don't know, maybe it comes from a love of mushrooms. And then, biologically speaking, they are a bit magical, because they are more animal than plant structurally speaking, which blows my mind. They actually make their own separate kingdom, so you have plants, animals and fungi. I had always thought they were a plant when I was growing up. So they are a bit alien and a bit strange.
The tallest mushroom ever found in the fossil record was supposed to have reached a height of more than 3m. And then, before fungi appeared, there was no plant decomposition, so trees would stack onto each other when they fell and just lie around. That's the period that most of our natural charcoal (from charcoal mines) comes from. Fungi changed the composition of the atmosphere by decomposing plants and made the world more like what we know today. We wouldn't be here without them. So I guess they are a sort of real-life magic too.

Holy, that's really cool!Β
I've always found shrooms (for fungi in general) oddly fascinating. Didn't know they contributed so much! Great tidbit, thanks!Β
