Description As #TutorialThursday is here, I tried to not shirk my responsibility and give you a walkthrough to enjoy. I didn't manage anything more complex for lack of time, but maybe next week I will come back with a complete and complex tutorial. I hope you will enjoy this. As usual, please leave in the comments below ideas for future tutorials - otherwise you will just get lousy walkthroughs. ) Keep in mind the things I seem to be good at, I can't teach you about things I don't know much.

Hi, thank you for this tutorial. Since you requested critique, here's what I have to add.

- The font is quite hard to read. For maximum clarity in a tutorial you should stick to standard fonts, even if it doesn't look "as nice" (example: "give" reads exactly like "glue", and instead of "strive" I read "strlue" which of course doesn't make sense)

- I am curious about the greenish feathers at the rear end. Maybe you could have made a bigger, partail view of the artwork so as to show it more clearly?

- What I like is seeing the process from the coarse overall form and colour to the fine details, but I wish you had shown the brush tips you used because choosing the right brush tip is an art in itself

Apart from that it's very helpful!

Wow, I never thought so many people would be fans of chickens.Β  They are so ignored in art in general, that I really imagined this drawing will be set aside and forgotten. It really received much more attention than expected.

Oh, trust me, observation drawing is the key to success when drawing anything you find tricky. You just need to have the real deal in front of your eyes. And by that I mean the object or some pictures of it, to better understand the shape.

Big mood. It's hard not to feel like it's a cheat sometimes but I gotta remember that it's okay to reference other drawings too. I'm also suuuupper bad with hair and it's one of the things I really wanna improve on! And feathers. So many feathers. *clenches fist* Yis.

I'd strongly suggest a less misunderstandable font; having Step 6, for example, clearly saying "Don't forget to glue the eyes" is more than a bit distracting.

Any font that slows down a reader is a poor idea, and even more so for instructions, because some readers are easily annoyed.

I guess you are one of those readers? You do have a point, and I will probably improve on that in future tutorials.

Just remember that knowledge and skill are always achieved with effort.

I spent most of my professional life writing manuals & users' guides (though my primary interest is in fiction), and learned pretty quickly that readers can and will misunderstand ANYTHING and probably be cranky about it as well.

So I figure if we care enough about something to explain it, it's worth a little extra trouble to keep our readers interested rather than annoyed, so they don't just brush us off.

But that's always a personal choice, not a Divine Law.

I know, Nonie. Yesterday I guess I was a bit cranky too. I work in a domain in which very well thought out ideas could be dropped in favour of something that seems flashier and that looks better. I know that presentation is very important. I guess I had one too many brushes with this concept and was reacting strangely. I am sorry. You are right, and I will correct this issue in the following tutorials.

No worries; I know I can be annoying.

) I share this quality sometimes. Regardless of our temporary 'annoyingness', I shouldn't have reacted that way. I am well rested now and I can tell you, I would really appreciate further comments like the one that started this conversation. They really build up people's skills. I usually pride myself with receiving critique well, yet this time I didn't. I am sorry.

Ah, thanks for mentioning that, after a bit of confusion I just accepted "gluing" the eyes and kept on reading. Good to know I don't have to worry about gluing anything.Β Β
