Using a shard of broken window she cuts the butterfly from her dress, giving it the life and freedom she could only dream of...Been working on this one for a while... I quite like how it turned out mostly. I know the BG perspective is off because while I was drawing it I taught myself proper 1 point, hopefully I can implement that better in another picture. It was really fun playing with lighting and making the character lit with the secondary light which has bounced up off the floor from the window stream.

Oh my gosh it took my reading the description to realize the butterfly was cut out. I thought it was just a shadow. It had a deeper meaning than I had though originally!!!

I like this a lot. Good colors and shading. Yet something catches me about the light... you see the shadow of the cut out butterfly, but you don't see the shadow of her arm which seems to also be in the light. Did you do this on purpose as though the character in a way wasn't really there... kinda like a ghost?

That's not the butterfly's shadow, that's an outline. She cut the butterfly out of her dress. Though, now that you mention it, according to the light angle, there really SHOULD be a shadow of her arm, and of the butterfly.
