Description
Silicon Soldiers are one of Clade's most personal creations. It is also possible they were the first semi-autonomous creatures he ever made, but that is unconfirmed. Regardless of their history, he seems to hold them in special regard. Silicon Soldiers are only found in places deemed important to him, most notably his home Astral Rock.Silicon Soldiers have a strange physiology, seeming to have characteristic traits of both stocky and lanky builds. The chest/abdomen of a Silicon Soldier is compact and built for endurance while its arms are built with reach and flexibility. This makes Silicon Soldiers capable of advanced manueverability for extended purposes. The name is also not a misnomer; Silicon Soldiers contain a flexible form of the metalloid silicon in their skin. The exact purpose of this is unknown, but it may help them send electrical impulses to eachother and coordinate themselves more efficiently.
Yet the most intriguing thing about a Silicon Soldier is not its skin, but rather its "blood". More of a dense sludge than anything else, a Silicon Soldiers bodily fluids sit motionless inside of it, distributed but not circulated. The thick liquid is charged with a powerful magic that the Silicon Soldier survives on, much like a device survives on power or the body survives on stored foods. It cannot eat, so the Soldier is entirely reliant on the liquid inside it. Once that liquid is removed or the energy is all siphoned out, the Soldier expires and shrivels (most Silicon Soldiers last 2-3 years, less if they are more active. The liquid is not replenishable, so anything lost is lost forever).
This odd lifestyle suits the Silicon Soldier well in combat. A severed limb by no means implies that death is soon to follow. A wound that would bleed out in minutes for a human may take several hours for a Silicon Soldier, and until then they have lost nothing more than the use of the damaged body part. Silicon Soldiers are also capable of unlikely strength: Though they will never be creatures that pick up cars or level houses, they can temporarily increase their energy consumption and boost their physical ability (which by itself is nothing special given their thin limbs) to a respectable level.
All in all, Silicon Soldiers are fearsome warriors, but they are highly specialized. If you pride yourself on battle technique and speed, the best way to kill a Silicon Soldier is to do it fast, focusing on the arms and head. Alternatively you could choose to drag it out until the Silicon Soldier expends itself and is weakened. Their blood is very valuable for its energy-qualities, so anyone who kills them can earn a useful commodity.
