Hours later, Dee was still wandering the streets. It had started to rain sometime earlier, but she ignored it as she meandered through the city's side streets and alleyways. She paused suddenly, breaking out of her dark thoughts as she heard a sound coming from a trash can near the alley wall. Curiously she walked over and lifted the lid, peering in, "Hello, anyonez homez?"

She heard the sound again, louder. It seemed to be coming from a box that lay atop the other rubbish. Dee picked the box up and rattled it gently, The mewling sound stopped, then increased in volume. Dee set the box down and ripped the lid off, then whistled in amazement. She reached inside and gently scooped up what she had found.

"Kitty?" Dee looked around and looked into the box for a note, "Wot woz U doing in thrash canz?"

The small ginger kitten began to clean herself and meowed softly. Dee nodded "Iz see, well that woz not be nice...and if I iz findz them iz be givez them smackz! But now...wot iz I do with U?" The kitten meowed again as Dee frowned, deep in thought as she began to pace back and forth.

"Wot iz we do? I iz like to takez U homez, but there woz an incidentz with some racoonz, thingz woz getz out of handz, reactorz iz almost blowz up..." Dee stopped pacing and looked at the kitten, "My sister woz totally overreactz" Dee nodded. "But, iz not tekmically allowed to haz anymore petz...unless" A sudden smile creased Dee's face and she took out her phone.

Nadine looked at her phone and felt a sense of relief as she saw Dee's number" Dee, where are you, are you out in the rain? We were worried, it's been over four hours".

"Rainz?" Dee looked around. "Oh yeah...uh..no? Anywayz..iz just calling to ask, if I iz can bring twinkiez home?"

"Dee, the pantry is full of treats, I think you have enough. Now where are you and I will send Murray to collect you?" Nadine replied.

"Aww...but I iz findz a special kind...please? Just one twinkiez?" Dee pleaded.

Nadine sighed, "Okay, just one twinky then, now where are you?" Nadine nodded, "Okay, stay around there and Murray will be over to bring you home soon. And Dee, just one twinky okay?"

"Just one twinkiez, iz promise, thankz Nadi" Dee hung up and smiled at the kitten, "Hear that Twinkiez? U iz in!". Dee hugged Twinkiez gently. "U iz be the best birthday present everz Twinkiez, we iz gna haz so much fun, now, letz getz U home ".
