Description Dark form the Angrboda, boundary form the Loptr and Sigyn the light form.

According to some version, Loki turned into a she-wolf to bear children, and in the form of giantess Angrboda he bore the wolf Fenrir. The fact that Loki can artfully change his identity and play himself like a perfect actor got me on the idea that together with the old giantess Angrboda and his wife Sigyn they are same person all three. It might be that two of them represent two of Loki's sides: light and dark. Angrboda which name means "the one who brings grief", the evil witch who dwells in the Ironwood she bears many giants for sons. And as it said in Poetic Edda Loki is the procreator of giantesses and witches, because he himself is a giant and a witch who practices "seidr", women’s magic (Seiðr's practitioners were of both genders, although females are more widely attested, but in practicing magic they brought a social taboo, known as ergi which literally means unmanly, and in figurative sense “a passive homosexual”). So that in Lokasenna Odin condemns Loki as “ergi”, while Loki feedbacks with a clue that Odin also practiced "seidr".
It is important to note that Loki is associated with femininity and a feminine figure. Loki is Aesir by status and Jotunn by blood and as well as both male by his nature and female by ability to get pregnant bear and give birth. His femininity is not just a disguise, as he has given birth many times.

Nice, but I love synig too much to think that she isn't herself, and same with the others but still nice concept and idea

Interesting concept...but it seems out of place in Norse mythology, especially given what my friend has told me about how homosexuals were treated. Of course, being gods do allow a being to bend the rules (although you must then wonder why humans should listen to all these rules and laws).

It’s a lovely picture, but...I think I will have to say no in this case. More because I have a kind of fondness for Angrboda and Sigyn. But you are free to have your thoughts…

But I am a little concerned about Loki’s armor...it looks like he would freeze to death (even if he does have magic, he isn’t mortal as Heimdall ended up killing him during Ragnarok).

Don't forget about when he ate a heart and had the trolls.

Nothing out of place. Loki was an 'ergi' and mentioned "Milking the cows as a maid" and "Ay, and babes didst thou bear; Unmanly thy soul must seem" and even Odin was accused in transvestism, just read the Poetic Edda: 'I hear you sung spells on Samesey and beat drums like a witch. In the likeness of a wizard you journeyed among mankind and that I thought the hallmark of a pervert.'
Loki doesn't freeze, he might go fully naked and never give a damn.

It things like this that make me wish that Loki had a friend that was just as talented as he was, and also someone who was born exactly like him. His very nature isolates him from others.

You Develv have my eternal gratitude for showing the mythology of Loki in such perfect detail. The myths  were always my favorites.

I hope the Marvel movies use more mythology in Loki's character, like what you've described and shown in your gorgeous artwork.

Major kudos!!

Many thanks for that! and thanks for the nice comment!

I also hope Marvel will make something great based more on mythology because the messed up thor2 basically made me upset. Thor 1 and avengers was my favorite XD

Kind regards!

I love all your various Lokis. It does make quite a lot of sense that he/she/they would be genderfluid. After all, tricksters are known for their changeable nature.

I met up with the information that Loki, Agreboda and Sygin are one and the same person ... But I also met with a number of other options.

The story about Angreboda heard from my husband while celebrating Freyfaxi. I wanted to consult with him on this and better that he told it, but I can't stop and I tell you so as I remember it.

I messed up a few facts. Something if will be bad, then I unscrews it.

So... A long time ago, before was Utgard, two powerful clans, the great lands were fighting with among themselves. One clan ruled the "Wolf Warrior". Bloody essence of Jotunheim. The brutal and merciless.

Another clan, ruled Farbuti. The mighty giant of fire with Muspelheim.

Once Upon a Time "Wolf Warrior" had a vision. She seen that the son of the clan leader of Muspleheimu, Farbuti, along with his wife, the Island of Laufey (she beautiful, golden-eyes goddess of the earth ) will be begetting a child. The child will be a killer "Wolf Warrior".

So "Wolf Warrior" unleashed war. She wanted to kill Laufey and not allow to the cursed child is born . The war began in earnest. "Wolf Warrior" crushed Farbuti allies. Farbuti teamed up with "Wolf Warrior". He tied the peace between their clans - but on condition that Laufey will be able to live. Laufey had to go away. It was like a death sentence. She was pregnant, everywhere fire, and pain. But Laufey ran away with the unborn child. "Wolf Warrior" been happy because she believed that cursed-child will never be born.

Laufey was a beautiful soul Islands. Hiking through Muspelheim made her heart began to burn. She looked like a hot core of the earth, boiling lava. She suffered, she was sick, hungry... and she dying. At one point, she found the lock. He lived in this castle, a man (can not remember imeinia), who helped the unfortunate Laufey, provided that it will is his wife.

Laufey agreed to this proposal, barely alive. She was the wife of a foreign man. So He took a sick Laufey.

When born... she died in the flames of his birth.

Son of Laufey has a beautiful, green-eyed, fire-hair and he is dangerous giant of Muspel. He was not like the others giants. It was a beautiful, feminine, green eyes reminded of Green Forest Laufey Islands.

Meanwhile, the war came to an end.

Loki lived with his second father and he didn't feel good in there. He escaped of his stepfather in search of the Land Musplehaim. He was looking for the house of his blood. He found Farbuti and learned that he is his son. "Wolf Warrior" was remember a vision. But when she saw Loki - this beautiful young man with green eyes, she had another vision. She didn't know that a son Farbuti, cursed child, which is to the death, is also the only person who she truly love.. "Wolf Warior" fall in love with Loki, knowing that one day, her beautiful lover knocks down her into the arms of death. The gates of the infinite Ginnungagap.

"Wolf the Warrior", the great leader of the clan of Jotunheim was Angreboda.

Oh. Thank you a lot for narrating the story. Nice to see another version of Loki's story

I don't even have anything to say

Very sad story... Laufey is dead. Again. He is always dead. Poor

Only that I used to call Laufey 'he' so... 'she' is extremely strange to me

And also, I belive that gods not just suddenly fall in love - they know their faith and they're just playing. Well I'm just saying
I like the Idea that Loki grown up in Muspel when my sis told me I even used that for my horror fiction!

Many times, the gods fell in love at first sight.
Gods nardyccy are polygamists. You can see it right away. Odin went out for a few women. Thor, his son was married with the giant. Thor himself had leanings to the boys. Sometimes, when he visited midgard  "kidnap" a talented young boy.
But most often accompanied by Loki.
They had many lovers, many wives and husbands. No one is bothered. Polygamy but it ... a little different.

Develv In reply to Oak-Deer [2013-09-05 08:02:10 +0000 UTC]

Well maybe... but I tent not to believe in it. Since many myths and legends were 'corrected' and edited in someones favours and tastes.
I am alright with poligamy when one does loves every of his lovers and cares for them, not like whoredom. It's disgusting. I wouldn't respect such god. Whoever the person is, but when it's unworthy bastard and slut - what difference between a human?

Develv In reply to Oak-Deer [2013-08-23 10:28:34 +0000 UTC]

I see. Perhaps our opinions differ. Because I personally think that gods don't often fall in love in comparison with mortals. But if they do - it's an eternal bond of love where there is no lust.

Wow,now that's awesome! But I don't think he could be his own wife,well,shape-shifting,yes,but the point when he's tied to this rock, his own child, the Midgard-Serpent,dropping it's venom down on him? Now,Sigyn catches the venom,so she has to be a person for herself ;D But it's nonetheless a very interesting theory^^

Develv In reply to Nehalel [2013-08-02 03:11:12 +0000 UTC]

I just read a lot of mythologies especially vedic scriptures and discovered that many god's have female hypostasus of themselves, like Shiva's wife Parvati is him and many more gods same, usually they happen to be their wives. There is a speculation that Freyr and Freya are same person and Freyr is actually a hypostasus of Odin too and Frigga, the Odin's wife also his female hypostasus. There is an opinion that Loki is another hypostasus of Odin, I think it might be true too because he was very powerful god. I think everything what happened to Loki in Norse myth consists from folk stories and legends and it was mixed up with ancient religion and then twisted by the Christians. Loki was a deity and later he became a part of people's tales, just like now MCU Loki takes a big part in fiction and arts, but we can't claim them true right?
Norse myth are mostly allegoric and written in veiled manner, just see the creation of universe with the giant Ymir. For example Norse characters often address themselves as third person, so it might lead us in misunderstanding that s\he is talking about another person. Or their phrase like "9 night he has been a woman and borne children" means the man has been laying with other men and engaged sexual activity. That's how Norse myth appear to be complex^^
I just thought if LOki is the most incredible shape-shifter, that he can perfectly change his looks and identity then when his skills appear? Everytime. I think if he guises himself as his own wife and plays an innocent kind and devoted creature - this is the most amazing trick he ever played~

Wow,that's pretty interesting.I do scandinavian studies(no idea,if that's the word in english. It's a course of studies all about scandinavia,it's languages and culture),so that's pretty much something to think of(and some points I already knew ;D ).And of course I think Loki could transform into his own wife, why not.But still I don't think that he IS her - sadly,I just have the same example again, but it's pretty obvious,I think, that he can't be his wife at that time,so...

Yeah, like I said,it's pretty interesting,it just doesn't work at some points. But it would indeed be very interesting if some time maybe we could know (doing research about such things is pretty tough,so) if those parts are "original" or were pretty old and just, like "oh,that would be a nice story,I'll write it down",so that maybe your theory was/is right, who knows? That would be pretty cool,by the way.Just because (almost) nobody expected this ;D

Though, I find a bit jerk-ish of Loki to make fun of Odin for practicing Seidr/Ergi when he too preforms the same Magick. XD

Anywho, nice drawing, dear.

Blessed be. <3

Develv In reply to TheElegantShadow [2013-07-23 13:21:33 +0000 UTC]

If your read more on mythology and work with logical thinking... I think one should get to this point

Well maybe he just revealed the truth. It was like: Loki insulted a goddess calling her a whore and Odin defends her saying "You Loki has been a woman of this kind this too" and Loki laughs at him and says "You too as well". He's a mischief

Thank you for a comment, dear. Gods bless
