I feel a strange feeling when I return to Loki, descends so many years. I miss for him.A few days ago in a night-dream I saw a strange androgynous image of Loki in red robes and with daggers, he was in a deserted ashen world with shadow creatures. He fought against someone with a smile on his lips and mischief in his eyes. So, I decided to paint it.

He looks rather Indian, which is actually fitting as Nordic mythology belongs to the greater family of Indo-European mythology, all share virtually all familiar features in different variations such as a sky father, thunder god, mother goddess, etc. Also it's not off the mark to describe him as lord of magic, largely since magic is portrayed as somehow being drawn from the mind, at least in Eastern mysticism.

This is strange, but why do people always associate gold and bracelets with India? Probably because people don't know know Norse clothing and jewelry looks like.
Ornaments on my work are Norse, but not of mere mortals, but of gods and jotuns, for a sample I used jotun's jewelry from Marvel comics with my own fantasy. I also used references from a Danish artist Lorenz Frølich, German artist Emil Doepler who illustrated norse mythology.

I'm familiar with the traditional Norse decorations and clothes, but by the way, Marvel's Loki is not Scandinavian. He is an alien creature, a god and Frost Giant.

I'm well aware about Nordic jewelry but it's likely that Indian jewelry designs are distinctive and broad in variety. Maybe it's the dress and about how Loki looked. He really reminds me of Shiva or any of the Indian deities.

I see. Actually Shiva rarely wears gold, mostly he wears ornaments from wooden beads and snakes, as clothes he uses the skin of a leopard or a tiger.
Perhaps other Indian gods, but the design of their jewelry is different from what Loki wears in my pic.

Its got a Hindu deity look to it. Makes it more unique considering this is Loki. You rarely if ever see a Norse god portrayed this way. Very nice.
