You choose a good pecil lineart to ink; keep up the hard work! You'll get better as you go.

This was a test for me, cuz I'm getting really frustrated with my Wacom. It's great, but I am relearning what I have just begun to know. (which isn't much! )

Was thinking of taking it back tomorrow....but after working this pic, I am a bit happier with the results....at least compared to my first day....I couldn't even make anything believable.

Inking with a brush, you get to see the whole page all the time and get a better feel of it. On a tablet, the image is zoomed in 90 percent of the time and you start to lose the perspective of where the lines are leading.

Anyways....thanks for looking and the inspirational words!

Although the results can be similar, there is deffinatly a big difference between digital inking and traditional. I think it's good that you're trying out both.

Did you know there are also 2 ways to ink digitally? One way is just by using the pen like a brush; the other is by using paths. If you would like to know more about paths, I can send you the links to a couple of basic tutorials. It can take longer, but you get crispy lines; I sort of tried it, but was too impatient to learn.

In almost all digital work, you rarely have the artwork zoomed at normal size; so it will feel strange at first since you're used to tradtional where like you said you have the whole piece in front of you. I fand that zooming to regular size now and then just to see how the whole thing is comming along helps to get you back on track.

And you're welcome

Thanks for the advice.

I would love to see some info on the paths. I have seen some things about it...but as you mentioned, much more time consuming!

I'm trying a few things traditionally this weekend to see how they fare. The tablet is put to rest for a bit.

Path tutorials comming right up! (I'll send you the links via note). Nopefully you can make more sense of them then I did (I had troubles trying to get the brush stroke to taper on both ends for some reason, even with a tablet).

I hope you have had a good weekend; doing some more traditional art will hopefully make you feel less frustrated with the digital side of things - it's always good to change scenes now and then, especially when learning something new.

Not bad at all, but as you've surely seen, it needs more definition!!
Your inking has to be sharper!!!
Cool tryout, anyway!

Ya...working on a tablet is no where near as smooth as a brush (for me). But I'm experimenting...
