The most complicated was to search for references
in the whole animal anatomy bank available...
Whatever, Thank you so much !!!

This is truly an exceptional work. Most amazing: this is done traditionally, without a PC!
What I really like is the flow of the body and how he bends and - of course - the detail of this drawing!
very well done cO

Oh I have to say there's a tiny part of photoshop here
but about ten per cent of the work only,
so I consider it as a traditional pencil work.
But indeed, no pc there, only mac x)
Anyway, thank you for your words! (:

ha!!! There's sth edited with the PC, too!! but as it is only about 10 percent....it's ok
still very well done.
*smiling cuz of the mac joke*
may I ask what exactly did you edited with the pc?( or has it to be "on pc"...or "by pc"?.........I just can't stand prepostitions - doesn't matter of what language -__-) The black background for sure, haven't you?

Yes the back ground and the color,
quickly airbrushed behind the pencil work.
Still Thanks x)

amazing.
Could I borrow this picture to design my own dragon?

deviantetienne In reply to Leicrah [2011-03-12 02:06:54 +0000 UTC]
I suggest you borrow the whole world for your desingn!
My work is part of it!
Just make sure you draw "your" animal!
then you'll enjoy it more!
Just know that this one is made of bear, camel, bat, bird, dino, horse and human body... (and maybe some I forgot lol)
Thanks anyway for apreciating! (:

Very well done. You should draw it with its wings up to show the muscle there as well.

It's amazing, the way you constructed the dragons abdominal muscles. The connective tissue as well couldn't have been more accurate according to being somewhat anatomically correct on a mythical standard of course. XP.

Thank You! (:
It's been kink of a puzzle, mixing different real animals.

Wow, this looks amazing! I just did a search for dragon muscular structures on DA, and I must say this is the most plausible (and detailed) I've seen. Great work c:
Would you mind if I used this for reference for an upcoming peace of art? The dragon's design will be different of course, and I'll make sure to credit you ^^

deviantetienne In reply to DreamTheorem [2009-12-28 20:23:54 +0000 UTC]
If you credit me...
But I must tell you that the best reference you'll find is reality!!!
You can use it as a reference but I'm sure you would find a great interest in searching for bears, camels, horses, bats, birds,... human anatomy!!! Then do it like a puzzle.
The more you'll know each peaces the better you'll make it work!

Thank you ^^
Haha, I've also been looking at real animals for reference, mainly humans, reptiles and some dinosaurs, but your art struck me as particularly helpful. I will change some parts though to make mine different (I'd never make a direct copy of someone else's work).
Thanks once again, and I appreciate the advice
