EDIT 2006
Wow, how the hell did this thing keep getting all those comments? lol, I always throught it looked like crap. Oh well. Heres the re-design. Keep your eyes peeled for a lil bit of Merch too....
Well, this is the first of what will hopefully be several T-shirt designs made availible on my online shop when I finally pull enough together to give a big enough reason to open one. Not much point in having just one T-shirt on sale and forking out 10 pounds a month for that one shirt, when you do the same for ten times as many.
Anyways, I was at home scribbling in my pad when I looked at this Typography book, and started getting one or two Ideas. I did a quick little rant and translated it into a sketch with different fonts. Heres the end result, which will be availible when my online shop is created. Enjoy for now and remeber, I thought of this first. *smirk*
You can buy a journal with this as the cover here: [link] And the T-shirt here: [link]

I'm flattered that you chose to use my work in this design, but just for future reference, the font in question (Dirty Headline) is free only for non-commercial, private stuff ... so for dA is fine, but if you're selling merch with it, please consider registering and using my work properly.

Yikes! Sorry, I didnt realise! Its been quite a while since I made use of all these different fonts, and this was before I properly began keeping track of them all. My sincere apologies.
And Dirty Headline is an epic font.

Not a big deal; I used to do the same thing before I really started to pay attention (then it's like: oops ... that's people's stuff; d'oh)

The real meaning of a person being Gothic came from having actual pain within. The attire and behavior can evolve from such feeling of relevance. The genuine darkness/pain/distress actually present in people who claim to be Gothic is rare indeed these day. Thus I would agree with you somewhere along the line. However, I hope you don't stereotype too much.
And I would buy the T-shirt because it humor nonetheless; then again I won't buy it because it lacks wit in the text. It's too literal.
Nice work. Keep it up.

No serious stereotyping here, just creating things for humour. And this was something I knocked up back in 2003 on a whim so not much planning there. Just a quick and honest idea.

Sad but funny how true that is. Anyone know the real meaning to being Gothic? >_>

If you are trying to market this then I doubt anyone will by it because it insults the gothic society in general and any and people who dont like gothic people or has the same view won't buy it cause it says "Im" I would suggest changing that to this is why you are or something along those lines.

There is no such thing as a Gothic Society if you think about it. Just because a group of people dress up and do all the things shown in this deviation(which I do realize is exaggerated to some extent) for whatever effect doesn't make them Gothic. Its just another example of American kids taking some completely out of context and shaping it to fit their needs. Same thing applies to EMO's being considered Gothic. Its just a never ending loop of facsimilies. I'm pretty sure the Ostro-Goths didn't dress up in black lace and leather, nor do you find Gothic architecture exhibiting these features as well.
I'm sorry for posting so late, I just haven't come across this until today. I'm not attacking your views or trying to contest against the 'gothic society' dress code. Let them decide for themselves, as we all do.

I was talking more from a marketing point of view if you were to alter the words to a none possessive tense it would be more likely to sell. Thats all.

I definately want this shirt; I know and dislike too many people that fit into this and would wear it just to piss them off. Brilliant and hilarious concept +fav

The most significant problem with this design is that all goths are wannabes, so the use of the word "wannabe" is redundant.

Um, thanks Brine.
Wow, such a huge response from one small design! I guess I better get to work on some more then. Hmnn, a Punk one... I'll have to get a few Ideas for that one.
The T-shirts and prints will be availible from my personal site [link] in about three months time. This should give me enough time to do some decent designs, put them up on DA Prints, then from that money open up a T-shirt shop where you can all walk around like lovely mindless drones with my art adorning your bodies. *smirk*
I love the digital age.
