This is just a little idea that I had for the group system
What is it?
it's an idea for sticky comments, so that on a group account, if there is a comment of relevance to do with the journal that has been posted e.g. if a journal about group recommendations was posted and someone has a particularly good idea then it can be stuck at the top as a good example, or if an admin of a club is giving information about some club updates and another member wants to add something more to the info but cant edit the journal then they can post a comment if the admin sees fit they can stick it to the top.
How does it work?
if you look in the top right hand corner of all the normal comments there is a blue up button which sticks the comment in the blue "sticky comments" section and comments in that section have a red down button to remove it from sticky comments if it is no longer needed.
i think there would have to be a limit on the number of sticky comments, somewhere around 4-5.

Excellent idea!
I think this is dangerously close to being considered *essential*
As others have said, you *could* just edit the journal entry to contain the new information. But why do that when a useful comment could be stickied to be right under the journal, much more attractive, quick, simple, and could be used to make some wonderful real-time "FAQ"s or even interviews!
It's more eye-catching than an edit, and inspires commenters to give useful information or ask good questions to get stickied to the top~
I think with some thought even more uses could be imagined for this single sticky comment feature

I like it ONLY if the group admin are allowed to make things sticky, because knowing my group random people would be making pointless things sticky ( no offense, group who I love so dearly lol )

I really like it! Especially if you can use it for polls... if the admins could Sticky a comment explaining the poll better, it would be REALLY handy so everyone sees!

I don't think I'd ever use it simply because any important information that pops up gets put in the journal itself but it's a nice idea.

it sounds logical to have a comment appear on top of other comments regardless of the sorting order..
i just realised that i sounded like a Vulcan so only one way to end such a comment

Wouldn't you just be able to edit the blog's content with the text from the comment manually?

Great idea! I think the blue border as pictured is a bit much though - the comment looks more important than the blog itself.

I really like the idea, but I think it can be expanded on. My suggestion to improve it is to make it a comment rating system, not just sticky.
I would like the ability to give permission to members/mods/contributors to be able to vote on comments giving them either a thumbs up (+1) or thumbs down (-1) rating. Higher rated comments will magically float to the top! This could act like the sticky feature you're proposing if only group mods have permission to rate comments.

if you submit something with 3 votes then change the rule to 2 it does nothing and stays at 3

that's a pretty awesome idea.
maybe the person in charge of the sticky comments can put a heading on the comments or a heading on the whole section
like for yours in that example the typing could be "like this" or "this is a good example..." if you put more than one, "examples"

This strikes me as a fairly nifty idea ^_^ I do wonder if the stickyness would be at the sole discretion of the admin or admins in charge of the group, or if said comments could be nominated by other commenters...if I'm making any sense >.>

So, the JOURNAL OWNER to stickies the comments? Phew! I thought the posters would be. And though that would be fine if we were all honorable, hard-working, responsible artists, most people would take advantage of it to promote themselves over other people.
...but, owner-directed, but this looks like a fantastic idea!
