Thanks ! I'm not so sure about the historical accuracy of my depiction, although I wanted to steer away from anything overly sexual for its own sake. From what I've read Gladiators in ancient rome were more like trained atheletes than soldiers, and the mortality rate of gladiatorial combat was surprisingly low, which was quite interesting.

I suppose being the object of entertainment, it could be justifiable to have a physical or even sexually appealing depiction of gladiators, especially since gladiator men were often scantly clad save for their helmet and whatever other piece of armor, and were considered objects of sexual attraction for women at the time.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against sexual depictions or sexual art so long as its respectful to both genders. sexual fantasy is fine but when its in large doses it can be really annoying and your right Gladiators didn't wear much unless they were heavily armoured like the  murmillo or crupellarius and it true there are depiction of the gladatrix being shirtless. My issue is that so much gladatrix art is about sexual fantasy and not reality and it makes me sad that in all the years I've been on DA I've only seen 9 out of thousand pictures including this one which makes 10 showing the gladatrix as a warrior and not a sex object dieing naked for some crappy fantasy. I just wish more artists would be this respectful.
