Description Tao Dojo is hosting a father/son day. JB's father even makes his first appearance since Battle for the Books!
Ryan is bummed that his father isn't there.
In virtual reality, Grimlord uses a triangular prism to transfer Tyler Steele's knowledge of virtual reality to him.
At the newspaper, Kaitlin is taking photos for an article on fashion. She tells the others she's gotten a promotion to editor.
Back in virtual reality, Tyler Steele is thrown back in a cell, where he uses a makeshift device to try and send a message out.
Percy arrives at the newspaper, and insists that he can write for the new fashion section. He's about to talk to some models there, but Jeb sneaks up on him and makes a burp noise, embarrassing Percy.
Professor Hart contacts the Troopers and tells them there's something important for them to see at the lab.
Tyler Steele, meanwhile is caught using his device. Grimlord orders out his minions to stop the Troopers from finding out about it.
The Troopers battle through a group of Skugs and make it to the lab.
Hart shows the Troopers what he can of Tyler Steele's message.
Grimlord sends out some monsters to test out his new knowledge he's gained from Tyler Steele. One of them is the monster that chased Percy way back in Defending Darkheart.
Ryan and JB split up to stop the monsters, while Kaitlin stays at the lab for some reason. After JB gets overwhelmed, Kaitlin goes to help him.
The Troopers defeat the monsters and return to the lab. They're exhausted from the fight, the monsters were tougher than usual.
Grimlord sends a message to the Troopers and reveals that he's been stealing Tyler Steele's knowledge.

This is a pretty good episode. A decent start to season two, at least it would be if there weren't a few straggling season one episodes before it.
Tyler Steele finally makes his reappearance, still held captive by Grimlord. His communication device is cool, it looks like he made it out of whatever he could find.
There's an American footage monster that catches Tyler Steele using his device, and it's a pretty good suit. I don't remember if it was made to match a Japanese monster, but regardless, it's nice to see.
Kaitlin is now an editor for the newspaper, showing character growth.
Percy is his same old silly self.
There's a quick little montage of new monsters, some nice foreshadowing of what's to come.
The Rapid Spore, the monster that chased Percy, finally makes an appearance as a monster of the day. I'm not sure why they held back on it for so long, unless maybe Defending Darkheart was originally intended to be the season one finale? Or at least a lead-up to this.
The part with Kaitlin staying back at the lab is weird. Why couldn't they have just had her held back away from JB by some Skugs? Why was she just left out completely until her character appears in the Japanese footage? Did they just not want to shoot another American Skug fight?
Despite some big changes coming soon, this episode doesn't give me a whole lot to talk about. It's good, and the ending definitely feels high stakes, but overall it's just more of the same.
