Even after it's had all this time to die down to a trickle, I'm still sick of stuff like this. Not because Word of God says Twi's not going to outlive her friends (though not whether they're all mortal or they'll all end up immortal), but rather because it's not in character for her to mope for all eternity. Yes, if she's immortal and her friends aren't, it's going to hurt when she she truly recognizes that she's going to outlive most of the ponies she knows or ever will know. But she will still have friends to help her through it. Definitely she's going to have 'Tia and Luna to support her when things look dark, not to mention how if Twi's immortal then presumably so is Cadance. Spike'll live centuries if not millennia, seeing as he's a dragon. Even Discord may well help, albeit in the most annoying manner he can find, if for no other reason then because, as a demigod who has never before had friends, let alone mortal friends, he'll be taking the journey along with her. Then there's the fact that she's likely to start facing this when it becomes undeniable that all her friends are getting old and she isn't, which means she'll still haveΒ her five best friends around for a while, and they'll do what they can to help her prepare to handle their eventual deaths. And then we get into the other, slightly less close, friends she has, seeing as the Princess of Friendship is actually pretty friendly.
In other words, yes, being an immortal among mortals is not always a walk in the park, but it's hard to go properly insane until you isolate yourself, and there's no shortage of ponies who will work to prevent that if it becomes a possibility, starting with the sun herself. The Princess of Friendship will always have friends.

That was a joke that makes the assumption that the fanon "alicorns cannot die" is true, therefore "Twilight won't outlive her friends" means that her friends would also end up immortal.
