As a left leaning fellow, I read a fair amount of material trashing men as obtuse, obnoxious jerks. Certainly, we can be, but it is my experience that obtuse, obnoxious jerkiness knows no gender, political or racial barrier. We're all in glass houses. As a left leaning guy myself, this one actually made me laugh.
I think what makes it work is the way that there's something so universal about might making right that it becomes a highly effective punchline across a variety of experiences and personal biases.
Me, having been on a rowing team I've used this pose and that face when two guys sharing a bed start doing god knows what under the covers and I have to get some sleep. so I lay thee down the hammer
