Description Speed video showing the page being drawn: [link]

This is a page from Thor #620.1 which came out today from Marvel Comics with art by me(please grab a copy won't you?). It was the first time I did the book primarily digitally and took the opportunity to video myself doing a page from the book from start to finish. It's 9 hours of work condensed down to just a few minutes.
Dont entirely in photoshop CS1 with a cintiq and custom brushes. Colors by the amazing John Rauch!

EDIT!: glitch fixed and it's now viewable internationally!

Hope you dig!

Hello Mr. Markt, I have some questions to ask. What graphics tablet you use in this work?. Also I have to ask, how has filled the black areas so quickly? and how did these circles so perfect in photoshop?

Greetings and thanks in advance.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your incredible artwork and the replay that gives us all insight into the creation process. I once had dreams of doing what your doing but I lived in a small town with no art community to speak of and didn't have the financial resources to go somewhere that did. I can only imagine where I might be today if I had the kind of resources and inspirations that todays aspiring comic book artists can now find online no matter where they live. Kudos to you and thanks again. While it's to late for me, I have no doubt that this kind of sharing will help motivate and educate the next generation of comic artist.

I've been working all day on a cover with my wacom intuos 3 (seriously want to upgrade). This video gave me some great ideas when it comes to certain special effects. When you do the lightning, are you just selecting what you brushed and then stroking it? This makes the lightning look so natural, awesome, and over the top. Very inspirational. Thanks man.

Man, you are so f*cking amazing! It will take me year to complete something like this (not like I can do anything near this... ), but I happy to sees that I'm not the only one that keeps redoing the drawing a thousand of times. Awesome hard work.
How did you recorded it?

This is fantastic! Thanks so much for making the tutorial! I have a question though- what made you choose to go digital with the inking? And how did that effect your process? Did it make it faster and easier, since you didn't have to go back and fix mistakes and wait for ink to dry? or did you find sometimes you didn't get what you wanted from the program that you would have gotten easier in real ink? Thanks again

This impresses me as much as it depresses me. Sure its cool, but there's no physical original. Also, this takes away jobs for talented inkers. With that said, you're still one of my favorite artists in the biz Mark. I look forward to more vids.

This stuff is beautiful-- and I've always enjoyed your work immensely. But, I have to wonder-- for you, or any other artist who use a Cintiq-- doesn't this completely kill your original art income? I mean, it's always nice to be paid for your work twice-- and I can't imagine that you have any kind of shortage of buyers for your work.

Just wondering how that all works.

I found the tutorial very helpful. I still haven't had the opportunity to use a tablet in penciling and inking, still the hand drawn approach. have you used the intuos4 or the bamboo from wacom?

picked up those custom brushes and they are pretty killer.

I would like to ask how did you draw the lightning? I saw you used a brush and then use some menu option to outline it. is it a vector line? do you use another layer so it doesn't mess with the underdrawing? I'm relatively new to the options in photoshop since i've mostly used gimp. thanks for your time

Amazing. Just 3 questions (it'd be awesome to get them answered, but if you see this comment it's going to be awesome in itself since I could tell you that this is awesome)

1. Is it possible to do that 9 hours of work in one sit? (minus stuff like nature's call)
2. How big resolution do you work in compared to the picture we see above? (like is it three or six times bigger in original size)
Oh wait, you just answered that one in the comments. Never mind.
3. How can I order this piece of beauty over sea?

I've always wondered, is there much rhyme or reason to black placement in metal surfaces? Can you pretty much just go nuts as long as the general light source is clear?
