NCR Heavy Trooper

Though Under President Calamity the NCR would seek peace with its neighbors, and it’s expansion would be made through this peace, new threats would arise around them. With a plenty of elite troopers who did not fit in the NCR Ranger core, Calamity sought to make good use of them, starting a new type of unit that could project power while still representing the ideals of peace.

The Heavy Troopers would be the most well armed and armored troops in the NCR, with a few even getting power armor and magical energy guns. But the majority of the heavy troopers would get a thick ballistic coat and tempered plate armor, along with the NCR’s most powerful weapons. Though not as good as power armor, the heavy trooper armor would prove itself in battle time and time again, as the trooper would take shots and give back tenfold.

The strength that the Heavy Troopers could project would even impress the Applejack Rangers, and keep the Steel Rangers from recklessly attacking NCR bases when conflict between them would break out. For, unlike power armor, the Heavy Trooper armor still allowed a trooper high maneuverability, if they had the strength for it.

GAR M7 “Hunting Shotgun” Based on the Windchester combat shotgun, what was origonaly to replace the trench gun, it would only ever see use in civilian markets. With many veterans remembering the Trench Gun fondly, along with that the gun was never released to the surplus market, and simply destroyed, they rushed to get this new shotgun. Unfortunately the production line for the Windchester Combat Shotgun would remain low despite the demand due to the Winchesters being pushed out of the market. What shotguns were sold would be highly prized and well cared for, practically passed down as family heirlooms

Gwadina Grimfeathers would be one such who would inherit a Windchester combat shotgun. So when the Gun Runners had finally met their quota in guns for the NCR, and could branch out to new guns, Gwadina wanted to see if they could remake her family's prized shotgun. Then she asked for in 10 gage. What was produced was then named the “Hunting Shotgun” and would receive the same love as its predecessors. When the Heavy Troopers were first formed, the Hunting Shotguns were the first weapons they were given, and since then have become a symbol of the Heavy Trooper

Needing a weapon to truly project power, nothing says that then a machine gun. So when Calamity ordered the GRA to make one, they reproduced a Mouser MG42, but with their own modifications. A gun that saw limited use in the great war by the Zebra Empire. When questioned why, the Gunrunners simply took the gun to a shooting range and all questions were stopped. Using the more expensive .308 rounds, in the hooves/claws/paws of a Heavy Trooper, even GRA M8 would cause a dragon to think twice.

As time went on, ponies would start to rediscover the lost tech, or simply remake it from the ground up. Among them were motorized vehicles, and with them, armored vehicles. Not wanting to get caught off guard by this, the NCR would start producing their own anti-armor weapons, one of which is the GRA M9, or simply called the “Rocket Launcher” due to poor creativity in naming guns. Though used by any trooper with enough training, all heavy troopers were trained in using the GRA M9, and several were always kept werever a heavy trooper was stationed. This would prove a strong deterrent to any armored raids on a base with heavy troopers on guard, as the chance of death by explosion was relatively high.

With members of the WIndchester family, and former Enclave weapons development technicians working with the Gunrunners, they would eventually make something that even Calamity would reject… at first. The GRA M10 “Heavy Flamer” would become the “I case of giant spiders” weapon of the NCR, rarely brought out unless it was a do or die situation. Using the tech developed by Redeye, the heavy flamers are capable of having the fire bypassing inorganic material and burn anything organic beyond that. This proved the downfall for a Steal Ranger chapter that attempted to take down the NCR before they became too powerful to stop, the heavy troopers cooking the rangers from within their armor.

The Super Sledge would find itself as an almost legendary weapon in the wasteland, but it started it’s life as a simple demolition tool made by the diamond dogs. Having been pushed out of their home by the Ministry of Arcane Science, some Diamond dogs would band together to form the Diamond Diggers company. Using their skills to both demolish and build up buildings, Diamond Diggers would be involved in much of the new constructions around Equestria, including the rebuilding of Hoofington. One tool caught the eyes of many, their Super Sledge, which used a kinetic storage device to greatly increase its power. This would see the Super Sledge taken into the trenches of the great war, and taken up as a weapon by both dog soldiers and griffin mercenaries alike.

In the wasteland the Super Sledge would be seen less and less, only used by creators strong enough to properly weld it. Even many dog tribes would forget the tool as Heal Hounds would emerge from their ranks, not needing such tools when claws worked just fine. But other Dog tribes would remember, donning themselves in plate armor made using the Super Sledge, and welding it as a weapon of honor. Through the NCR’s peaceful expansion, one such dog tribe would be absorbed into the NCR, and several of their strongest warriors be drafted as Heavy Troopers. In their paws the Super Sledge would see war again, and prove that it still has the power to fight, and though that, the GRA would begin the production of new Super Sledge for both as a tool, and as a weapon of the heavy troopers.
