Equestria Military, Luna Doctrine: Shadowbolts

During the great war between the Zebras and Ponies, the Wonderbolts would be fully militarized for the first time in over a hundred years, along with being put in charge of the training of air support troops. For a time they proved among the biggest advantages for Equestria in the war, able to fly rings around Zebra airships, and fly far above the range of zebra guns.

But as the war went on and new weapons were brought into the fight, the Wonderbolts would become less effective and more flying targets. Things would get so bad that Celestia herself would recall them, unwilling to send them to die needlessly. Among the most affected by this would be Rainbow Dash, who was kept from the fighting, and had lost several friends in the Wonderbolts as she had to sit things out, sometimes physically restrained to keep her from joining the war.

When Celestia stepped down, and Luna was crowned as new regent, she would uplift the elements of harmony to help her rule. Rainbow Dash would form the Ministry of Awesome, then go silent. Soon after new pegasus special forces would appear called the Shadowbolts, who were under the direct command of Rainbow Dash. Though few even knew what the M.o.A. did, most were sure that a lot of it went into supporting the Shadowbolts.

As a clandestine organization, both the MoA and the Shadowbolts would remain a mystery to almost everypony in Equestria, appearing only at pivotal moments. But despite being the secretary of the Shadowbolts, Rainbow Dash's ego could not be contained, and she would fall back onto Wonderbolt propaganda, aided by rarity. So ponies knew they existed, and saw them as heroes, but nothing else.

-Shadowbolt Power Armor- being an early adopter of the pegasus power armor, this armor was in fact designed by Applejack and not Rarity, whom designed the standard issued power armor most pegasus troops would end up using. This power armor is a bit bulkier, and somewhat uncomfortable, but provides rather good protection. Unfortunately it was deemed too expensive and difficult to use for it to become standard issued. The MoA would take in most of this armor, and modified it to their needs, in which would make the power armor of thee most superior armors Equestria ever fielded.

-Pegasus Power Armor Helmet Model 1- part of the armor designed by Applejack, the helmet would actually be made standard issued, and given to air troopers who are expected to see heavy combat. Though restrictive like Steel Ranger helmets, the protection it provides was well worth the drawback.

-Pegasus Power Armor Helmet Model 2- designed by Rarity to be less restrictive and more striking, this helmet forgoes the muzzle cover so that the pegasus could better breath when flying. The concept being that the trooper would be flying too fast for the Zebras to be able to hit the weak point. Though true, and a favored helmet by scouts and military couriers, the fatal flaw would become apparent if the pegasus was ever grounded or forced to fight in enclosed spaces.

-MoA-PSR2- a standardized version of the PSR1, a rifle made by a Shadowbolt operative who took a IF-64 and completely remade it into an effective sniper rifle. Though the Shadowbolts primarily use MEW's, the PSR2 would prove an effective and reliable backup rifle as well as an unexpected trump card if magic were to fail them.

Though rare to the point of being a legendary rifle in the wasteland, the PSR2 can be found, though often in far off forgotten places and in the hooves of the descents of Shadowbolts who followed Rainbow Dash down under the clouds.

-GM-RCWa1- Griffinstone Mechanic's attempt to move into the energy weapon business would prove to be futile, even after designing probably the best and most stylish beem guns on the market. The RCW being the first gatling beam gun, able to fire continuously without breaking the beam talisman. But the RCW would prove to be too heavy and too expensive for what the Equestria military wanted. Even so Gabby still managed to make one last sale after giving one to Rainbow Dash as a gift. Rainbow would see the potential in the gun, but request a few changes in the design. Switching out the wood for polimer, and the four standard beam talismans be changed out for six smaller ones, the RCWa1 would prove to be a devastating strafing fire weapon that easily peppers whole areas mercilessly.

Both the RCW and RCWa1 are relatively rare guns in all of the wasteland, only really found among Griffinstone honor guards or as trophies of the Enclave upper class. But now and then a Dashite can be found with one of these guns, as though they were led to them by a friend waiting for them below the clouds.
