Description Ported to OBJ from the models included with the Soviet Waterway (SW) and Operation Monson (OM) mega-mods for Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition (SH4G or SH4 1.5) by Ubisoft.  Original model by Jack_410.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

The fourteen destroyers of the L'Adroit class (sometimes written as just Adroit) were built for the French Navy (FMN) from 1925 to 1930, with class ship L'Adroit entering FMN service in 1928.  The FMN had come to realize with Bourrasque that 1500 tons was too small for everything they wanted in a standard destroyer (as opposed to the larger and more powerful contre-torpilleurs, but that's an entirely different discussion).  They could either have all the armament and equipment they wanted at a cost of speed and operating range, or they could have a fast standard destroyer with decent operating range (i.e. room for more fuel) but only limited capabilities, but not both in a standard 1500 ton hull.  That's why L'Adroit wound up being essentially Bourrasque built on a somewhat larger hull.  This not only gave it the extra fuel storage needed for improved operating range (although still not what the FMN wanted) but also allowed for the fitting of more powerful engines that improved both normal cruising speed and top speed.  All other capabilities and stats were the same as Bourrasque.  The L'Adroits were considered very satisfactory by the FMN save for the operating range issue, but they were willing to live with that and they gave good service during World War II.  Seven were lost during the war (including class ship L'Adroit at Dunkirk in May of 1940), three were scuttled at Toulon along with the rest of the French fleet on 27 November 1942 to keep it out of German hands, and four later wound up serving with Free French naval forces.  The survivors of the class would serve the postwar FMN into the first decade of the Cold War, before being scrapped due to age and obsolescence in the early 1950s.  To find out more about the French L'Adroit class destroyers of World War II, follow the links below:

This is a straight port with no changes by me.  I have two slightly different versions, one from Soviet Waterway (pair lower right) and one from Operation Monson (pair upper left).  The one on the lower right is the closest to Jack_410's original release, which you can see in other older fan mods such as the various Living Silent Hunter 3 series (LSH3) uber-mod releases for SH3.

While I am no longer making my OBJ ports of Silent Hunter series models available for public download, you can get this yourself in one of two ways.  You can extract it piecemeal from the game data using the free SKWAS/s3ditor model utility and rebuild it in your preferred 3D modeling software, or you can rip it directly from the game after installing any necessary mods or mod packs noted above using any good 3D model ripper (3D Ripper DX or NinjaRipper recommended).

BTW if all you're needing is a model good enough for distance shots or for war gaming purposes, there's an excellent and absolutely free low-poly version that was created by CG artist stuart277 for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 2 (CFS2).  It's the same I used to feature here at C21VN before I got this one, and it ports clean as a whistle to the common OBJ model format for personal use only with the free ModelConverterX utility.  It's currently a SimOuthouse exclusive - members only can download - but it's worth the trouble given everything else they have to offer in their model downloads section.
