Description

The name of CG artist Atolm, or Azel as he is also known, is one that crops up often on the old SFC gaming boards and forums, as well as in other venues. In addition to being a talented traditional artist, he had a very unique design style and produced some of the most visually stunning starship concepts for the old SFC series back in the day. FWIW he kindly did the pre-TOS Kzinti cruiser sketch for me that you see in my old Federation Spaceflight Chronology (FSC) back when I was writing it, but I digress.

Anyhow, Atolm had his own unique take on the pre-TOS Baton Rouge generation of Federation of starships, and with Darkdrone's assistance created and released a series of models of them for use with the SFC series. As his was the only take on the Baton Rouge generation widely available in CG model form at that time (as opposed to those on exclusive or private forums), his concepts became almost as well known as Mr. Sternbach's original among the old Trek online gaming community. In honor of his recognition back then and as a way of saying thanks many years later for his helping out with my old FSC, I'm going to present as many of Atolm's unique Baton Rouge era designs that I have or that I can find. You'll have to come up with your backstories and type/class matching, but many are rather obvious and the rest can be matched with a little effort. This gives you yet another design and style option for the Baton Rouge generation in the pre-TOS era for those of you who might prefer it in your own threads of the Trek multiverse.

All of Atolm's designs are fanon AFAIK, even though some may be inspired by canon or semi-canon designs.
