The sound of the Enterprise both cruising through open space and in orbit is not on the original release of the TOS/TAS Sound FX Collection CD, which is the one I happen to have bought many years ago (grin). Fortunately there's a small handful of TOS episodes where you can sample it "in the clear," without any background music or additional FX overlaying it. One of those is "The Enemy Within," and I've given you the timestamp for it in the sound note in the first comic panel.

Some of you may be wondering why I'm putting such an emphasis on the sounds and music throughout STNV when most of you are probably familiar with the Trek franchise and can imagine these quite well for yourself. Some of you even got onto me about this in Season One a while back, but it's for two good reasons. By including these sound and music notes, I'm not only helping out those who aren't as familiar with TOS/TAS as you are, but it will help out anybody who wants to recreate this in video form, be it animated (hand drawn or CGI) or a live action shoot, and whether it be by the Franchise itself or a fannish effort ... provided ones longer than 15 minutes are ever allowed again. Say ... (sneaky grin) ... how about a four-part, 10-to-15-minutes-per-act story spread across four individually released fan-made videos that get put out every month or two, so as to spread them out and keep ruffling feathers to a minimum? That would equal one regular episode on most of the Trek shows (about an hour). Just an idea ... although I'm sure the powers that be would probably frown on that ... for now. (grin-and-wink).
