Description
Ported to OBJ from the model provided to us by our friends over at the Pack 3D website. Original is from Naval Warfare: Arctic Circle by Paradox Interactive. Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.
Matka (Soviet designation Project 206MR Vekhr or Vikhr, depending on how you translate it) was among the earliest efforts by the Soviet navy to come up with its own poweful patrol hydrofoil craft, apparently in direct response to the initial success of the Pegasus class patrol hydrofoil by the United States Navy (USN). They were rather crude in comparison to both Pegasus and earlier Soviet hydrofoil boats such as Pchela, being little more than a modified Turya class torpedo boat hull (the same hull form used for the Osa class missile boats) with a single large hydroplane forward. They worked despite their crudity, although they quickly gained a reputation for being cramped inside and top-heavy due largely to their Mod-Kashin derived SS-N-2 "Sandbox" missile launchers and other onboard weaponry. Only twelve of the original fourteen planned were built, first entering Soviet naval service in 1977, and they never came close to matching Pegasus in performance. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union the successor Russian Federation got rid of them as quickly as it could, with the largest number (five) winding up with the fledgling Ukranian Navy. The now-independent Georgia (not to be confused with the American state) also has one, courtesy of the Ukraine. This is a straightforward port with no changes by me. I note in passing that the Soviet Navy came up with better hydrofoils later on but I don't have any CG models of them as of right now (March 2021). I've got this one, however, and it'll give you something with which to counter Lazarus Starkweather's Pegasus model in your USN and USSR Cold War era fantasy fleets.
This is not my model. All I did was port it for you. Please credit Paradox Interactive for the original. You do not have to credit me for my OBJ port.

TRIVIA - The Soviet Navy actually built a single prototype MRK-5 (NATO code name Sarancha) for a good Pegasus competitor and it worked very well, but was deemed to complex and costly and no more were built. Hence their apparent decision to go with the cheaper and easier to build Matka. Given what the USN eventually did with Pegasus (pretty much nothing despite its excellence), it might not have been such a bad choice after all.
