Description
Father John Joseph Reid and Father Lawrence Turner are Catholic priest that fell in love with each other and married in Massachusetts. They now preside over the New Devine Mercy Catholic Communities. The opening statement of their website is listed below. In imitation of Jesus Christ, we welcome all people to worship and celebrate God's all-inclusive love with us. Whoever you are, where ever you are in your life, we thank you for choosing to be here with us today. Our Mission: To Extend God's Kingdom of Justice, Truth, Love and Peace. [link]
More than 1,000 people attended a rally at Fort Lauderdale City Hall protesting the passage of Amendment 2 in Florida and Proposition 8 in California, which discriminates against LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender/transsexual ) people in The United States of America.
The protests were part of the βJoin the Impactβ [link] campaign to have a synchronized reaction of outrage across the country because of the passage of laws in Arizona, California and Florida defining marriage as an institution between a man and a woman only.
Proposition 8 in California and Amendment 2 in Florida have become a symbol of the struggle for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights. It is also argued the laws will restrict rights to heterosexuals who are domestic partners and not married.

i love this it's got beauty to it
i think that it's great with what these priests have done. i know the bible doesn't encourage homosexuality but it does talk about love and acceptance. sexuality isn't a choice you can't choose who are more attracted to and if you try n hide it, it's painful and somehow i don't think that we were put here to hide our true selves. if like they say we are all apart of gods creation then we must be the way we're supposed to. and good on them for not being afraid to show it, i know soooo many people who are conflicted by the church and their own sexuality. so it's nice to see.

this is a very striking image, but i don't understand why they would want to serve a god/church that would condemn them just for falling in love...
oh wait; that's what makes it so striking, duh
great shot, really great

Few people seldom question the true "morality" of saying homosexuality & abstinence before marriage. Most of that has to do with the dogmatic nuances of your chosen religion rather than a true violation of morality, most of the people who practice these things are regular, peaceful & kind folk, that you pidgeonhole with the scum of the earth.
If valid marriage in your eyes is before God then a coupe who mutually promise Him & each other to be faithful to one another IS a valid marriage, there is no need for another human to confirm whay you know in your heart.

That rhymes, but you can't stop having sex with someone you love, whatever with priests being celibate. :/ You have kids that are under age having sex and they're not supposed too, oh well.

My view on this is....
I find it amazing yet shocking. It goes against so much and yet shows that even Relgious leaders have there problems and faults(in a religious sense of course).
Now, as to the one twards the top who said "These guys never came to knew God" I disagree because I am bi and I am a christian and I do want to become a Youth Minister and I know Ive found God. I know that being bisexual is a sin, but then again, EVERYONE sins so you cant point fingers if your hands are not clean. For example, you should not judge others and yet you these men. Does that mean that YOU never came to know GOD?
All in all, I enjoyed this very much. It touched me very personally in alot of ways.
*and by the way, I know that the one who made that comment will never read this. I just figured I would post my view on the comment.

This is so incredibly beautiful for a number of reasons... The first being that these two priests found each other, and accepted their homosexuality with open arms, and got married. The second is that they not only kept their faith in the process, but have taken steps to use it to preach true universal acceptance, even to LGBT people. I'm not very religious myself, but I understand whole-heartedly the meaning behind what they are attempting to do, and how difficult it must be, especially with the discrimination going on right now.

I'm all for equality and it's great that they're married and everything...but are they still priests?
Cuz I know Catholic priests can't get married, and since they're married and being treated as a married couple can they still do mass?
I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything, I'm just wondering.

This is such an inspirational photo. It's so nice to see that there ARE Catholics, especially catholic leaders, out there who aren't so arrogant and don't read the bible word for word. I know there are open minded Catholics out there who are or support homosexuality but there sadly aren't many and to see this makes me hate that particular Religion less. Silly people, no great powerful evil god will banish you for loving someone who GASP is the same gender. If the god that you believe in is great, he'll (or she'll) love you for you. I think it's great these two men can enjoy their god and preach what they believe, and love each other with no guilt, just being who they are. THAT is what's most important in life, being yourself. Great great photo.

Two married priests. It speaks volumes of how one can follow a religion and be gay, bisexual, lesbian or transgendered, be in love, and not get struck down by lightning or what have you.
I love how the rainbow flag reflects onto the stairs as well!

These priests must have virtually no understanding of the Bible they preach from. Which I doubt they even do preach from it, and rather they just market sociology and parade it around as if it were from the Lord. Or they just outright deny the truth of it and preach whatever fills their minds. I know of people that God has set free from homosexuality. So there is hope fro them in actually turning to Christ and making Him their KING (as in they actually serve Him and do what He says) and not just their religious idol.

why believe in god? we have a much better chance in just living for what we stand for and the great things that are created from our people's actions, just not believe in any afterlife and thrive in the real, Non-spiritual world. and who cares if people are gay! its like nudity, people in a america are all OH NOES A NUDE PERSON ON THE BEACH OR A MAGAZINE, while people in europe are totally fine with it. who cares. there is nothing wrong with trying things that other people don't usually do and that is alright =]
