This is a pretty helpful tutorial and I appreciate the suggestions you put out there. I did however notice that the program you used for this was PaintTool Sai. Is this a program you would recommend and/or is worth the investment?

Thank you! I love Sai, it has it's downsides, like no text tools (I switch to photoshop for text) but I love how the brushes work, so I do 99% of my drawings in Sai
