Wow! great one! I like it better than the one you wrote the critique about... The dark blue colour gives it a more solid feel.
The blur on the rear side is a bit strong, but I thing this only gives it that macro feel that makes it interesting!

The aperture was pretty wide on this.... that is what causes the background to become out of focus. I wished I could have used a stronger light. Even then I was using 1000 watt halogen. Oh well.

we all need one! Excellent for aerial searchlight or very quick sun tanning lamp

and it's less dangerous for cancer than the regular tanning lamp!
btw. just had the pleasure to work with those QUADRILIGHT neon lamps by Lupo... they're quite powerful and really great for diffuse background lighting... [link]

The f stop was pretty shallow to keep the shutter speed high and this caused the background to blur out.
It is a serious challenge getting these shots just right!
