Description Gamera rises again from the depths! Finally finished the poly painted model in zbrush. Was a huge learning experience and I'm fairly pleased with the final result. For anyone not familiar with my previous posts, this is a personal concept of Gamera. Will post some additional images without all the fiery effects to see the models details and colors a little better. Thanks for looking

Woot! Sorry it took me so long to get to commenting on this! I squeed a bit when I saw it uploaded but didn't have time to comment.

I love the final scale textures that you got on the skin! The final details on the limbs really came together too. His face also came out super awesome, the expression is very fitting and determined.
I think it'd be really cool if you could play around with the reflectiveness of the model a little more, since he seems to have a very even "matte" texture. Just if you wanted to give it that extra dimensional push to reality.

Anyway, great job on this! It was really fun getting to see it come together!

Yes, a bit more shine on the shell would help make it stand out more from his body and some adjustment to the skin shine would make the details come out better too. I totally agree! Β

Β I rendered him out in Keyshot and now I need to decide if I want to get the program since the trial ran out (its a bit pricey) or try to learn how to render out layers in zbrush then take it into photoshop and put it together. I feel like all the detailing I put in gets me worn out by the end and I kinda throw together a quick render to get it done with. Will definitely rerender with a full on scene and another monster to fight once I finish it. Now I'm working on a "megalon" and "gyaos"...going to try to get these guys done quicker than Gamera.Β Β Β  If I could figure out how to add a screencap here I would but I don't want to add it to my gallery first, or people that are following me will get bugged with an update of half finished work...again. Is there a way to do that without adding it to gallery?Β

Huh, that's a tough one. I've seen awesome stuff come out of just zbrush and photoshop, but then again I've never really seen finished keyshot work.

Oh! If you want to upload stuff like that, you can submit it to your scraps. Just select "Scraps" in the category option when uploading, and it'll go into a special separate tab in your gallery. People can optionally watch or unwatch your scraps, so you'll only bug the people that really want to see your WIPs. Linking WIPs in the description of your finished work is a good idea to let people know they exist, because when someone watches you, the scraps section starts out being unwatched. Linking it will just let them know it's there.

Does this work? Says I need a Core membership to put images in my text, figured I could just submit the link here instead this way I don't share with watchers at all. Never noticed that scraps section before, thanks so much!!Β Β Β

Yeah, that works! And yeah, core membership is required for posting thumbs on personal work.

What I do when I don't have core is just put in hyperlink text like this: Text goes here

It makes it nice and neat at least.

This art alone made me watch you.

But I liked him a little better when he was "friend to all children" :/
Don't ask why, it's just nostalgia

Hey thanks! Yeah, I have 2 Gamera figures sitting on my shelf...kept deciding how far I wanted to push the concept beyond the original Gamera design. I think when I've had enough space from this piece I'll go back and do another to see how close I can really capture him. I think Gigan is going to be my next beast...the 1976 version...

Cool
I have 2 Gamera's, one looks like the original, and one from the 1999 version that my friend recently broke
And I have the Monsterarts Gigan
Awesome, my 2nd favorite monster Gigan, my first is Megalon

This is beautiful!Β

The over all design is so clean and lots of 'craftsmanship' and grace and control!

Thanks again! I rendered in Keyshot and I'm really surprised how easy it was to get a result I was happy with. I haven't invested enough time in learning how to produce a high quality BPR in Zbrush so it made life a bit easier going with HDR image based lighting.
