I had this thing years ago. i sees words and numbers as colour. At the age of 14 i decided to suppress that, forcing myself to replace colours with pictures. Recently, after many years, i restarted to have some episodes of this thing.

I'm also a bit surprised that this is the only synesthesia stamp here. I would have guessed that more artists on DA had the condition in at least some form or another.
Of course, it's not a very common condition. I didn't even realize that I had it until I was 17 because I'd always presumed that it was perfectly normal to see numbers, letters, sounds, and so on as colors.

I was a little confused, because people usually use "awareness" to describe a disease that needs attention.

that's what i thought as well. maybe 'knowledge' would be a better word, though that would be bad English. because synesthesia isn't an ilness, its just a characteristic, or a phenomenon.
