Description
For ~KimmenWolf , who wanted me to tell her how to do it. And I think some people might find it helpful.Paint rawks.
x3 Yah.
Also, this doesn't work on ALL pictures. If your picture has both black and white in it it might get weird. But it works on MOST picture, and that's a great thing, right?
I also wanted to say CREDIT GOES TO ORIGINAL PICTURE. And that should you do too. If it isn't your own scanned one or something. You know... it's evil not to credit. :c
regarding scanned pictures, I think this trick is the most handy if you've got a real life sketch but don't own a scanner - and you can photo the sketch and this way get a lineart to work with (:

true, but this was mostly to show the technique, which you can apply to your own images as well <: as long as you give credit and use things with permission or that are royalty free I think you're clear. people didn't report me yet, anyway xD

"Explicit permission is not required when you choose to use valid stock resources. Please check your sources carefully to ensure that they are valid stock. "

I think I'm safe. xD; I know it says 'googled' on the actual tutorial, but that was before I realized and changed it to an image from morguefile, which is a stock archive, and it says morguefile in my desc >

well, I always do that so it's easier for me to concentrate on the object. JPEGs are a pain in the ass you know and you can't tell exactly if you're on maximum zoom. but that's just me.
maybe you can take a look in my gallery and tell me if it's good enough.
you're welcome btw ^^

mrblacksun In reply to mrblacksun [2007-11-28 22:49:41 +0000 UTC]
well I read over the comments xD I meant illegal to put it on here and claim as your own. You shouldnt really even post it online if you use this method.
π: 0 β©: 1
Dinaria In reply to mrblacksun [2007-11-29 11:52:20 +0000 UTC]
The thing is that you can, you know. Pixel-overs are big in the pokΓ©monfanartworld, and you could very well want to work with a scanned picture digitally. If all you have is MS Paint, you might think that's impossible, and I wanted to show people that it isn't. Aaaand I can only hope that people will credit and all that, and that they will stick to their own stuff, so I know this maybe isn't so.. helpful for the sake of copyright or anything... but yeah xD
See my point, though? o3o
π: 0 β©: 1
mrblacksun In reply to Dinaria [2007-11-29 12:45:58 +0000 UTC]
But pixel-overing /pictures/ and /your own drawings/ are two toooottally different things!
First of all, most pictures are copywritten. (and the one in this tutorial /is/)
So it doesnt matter if you 'give credit' (which you didnt, by the way, you need to link back to the SITE you got it on) it is still stealing and considered stealing if you claim it was yours in any way. And you shouldnt even post it online if youre using it for anatomy practise.
By the way, I dont particularly care whats big in the pokΓ©mon world, reason being it doesnt effect me. And eventually someone 'big' will go down for theft and hopefully open up the eyes of the people that are doing it.

Oh gosh sorry ._.' I knew there was something I forgot with that. I'll get another picture and redo this to state a good example. >_<
If you really think it's such a violation, though, I'll remove this and I'll do it gladly. I didn't think that far and I admit it.
π: 0 β©: 1
mrblacksun In reply to Dinaria [2007-11-29 21:57:27 +0000 UTC]
Well I think as long as you use a free picture site (ex. morguefile.com) and use that as an example. You should put a note in the tut itself (since most dont read artist notes) that they shouldn't claim it as their own
Sorry if this made me sound mean/stingy. I just came across this and hoped to help you understand. While it doesnt seem serious, things like this has been increasing and people are starting to get sued for it ;;
π: 0 β©: 1
Dinaria In reply to mrblacksun [2007-11-30 17:35:05 +0000 UTC]
I'll redo it with a free example and put "CREDIT PLX" on top, right below the err. title, yep. x3; that should work, I guess/hope.
Oh - then I'm really glad you took your time to make me conscious about it. Again, I didn't think that far. It's a simple thing that started in the pokΓ©monfanverse, as I said before, and there everyone knows it's not original, so I guess I just... went with it here, as well. x3;
Thanks, though. (:
