The horizontal branch, in particular, intrigues me:
itβs thinnest right in the middle!
Lightning that extends horizontally is, supposedly,
of the βpositive β variety (electrons go from ground to cloud),
and is said to be a lot more energetic than the usual
(electrons from low cloud to ground).
How much time, roughly,
between the vertical and the horizontal?

Okay, This shot ROCKS! i grew up in Oklahoma & when I was a kid, I used to dream about bein a storm chaser & being able to photograph lightning! I hope to at least accomplish a lightning shot! maybe, but I'm incredibly novice in photography. Beautiful man! you are on me watched list! I love your photography! wonderful stuff! bravo!
