just do a long exposure on a tripod, that and a little bit of luck and you're all set

Lighting is something so hard to capture for me. This picture right here was only good to take for about 30 seconds (literally). I ran to this area through the sand and set up my tripod just in time to get the pic

Thanks man! These past couple days have been amazing as far as storms go. It means everything to finally get a break from the heat..

how do you time to take the picture , is it just good timing or do you use a remote shutter release that senses light, thanks

I actually just set the shutter for around 10-20 seconds, and keep pressing it, either with a shutter release, or the timer on the camera to prevent camera shake. I made sure that everything was under-exposed so that the lightning would be the only light taking up most of the picture. thanks
