Description
An F-4S with a falling Mig-21. Don't get me wrong mig fans out there, I like migs too.The mig is probably downed by a wingman of that F-4. I hope you like it.

Love your artwork, the only thing that stands out though is that a phantom without a gun is still fully armed after downing a MiGΒ
Other than that, silly perfectionΒ

Thank you. you are right and I discussed this with many other friends. We decided the kill belonged to his wingman, unseen in the pic

Poor MiG meeting its untimely end at the hands of a phantom. Two of my favorite jets just happen to be enemies
Excellent work.Β

thank you very much.  not to worry about the Mig, in my earlier days I made a similar work with reversed results, you can check it here. distantstarr.deviantart.com/ar⦠.

Glad to see someone who knows the MiG-21s could hold their own back in the day and get a few kills of their own. Great work on both.Β

I just came across your images and was very impressed. the works you've posted are extremely accurate. would you mind sharing your process? do you actually recreate the images or use filters and other tools to edit source photos which gives the look of being painted? if so, what filters / tools do you use. not trying to discredit or take anything away from you, it looks like a ton of work even if they weren't hand painted. just interested in learning how process these renderings. thanks

Hi there, if you look at the bottom of the image, you will see the category which says "photomanipulation". This means real images were used/edited and partially recreated. I use CS5 and all its filters like enhancing colours, paintdubs, + the brushes. Each image takes different filters and touches so there are not set standards for this kind of work. It is all about your imagination and mood. The more you practice the better you get. I hope that helped. Thank you for the comment. If you are interested in learning this type of work, visit airfighters.com a friend of mine name Peter has published the process of making this kind of art. It helped me a lot too. cheers.

Was the wing man Solo Wing by any chance?

to be honest, I never flew F-4 on Ace Combat Zero. So my mind was more on the Cold War era when I made this one. But hey, if you say solo wing, then it certainly could be, it is all about imagination after all

I see eight missiles on the Phantom, and no gun. Shouldn't one of the Sidewinders be missing, or did someone else make the apparent kill?
