I'm running against walls and I can't find any way to make a flash version of a turn table. I am using Zbrush to do a rendered video but I cant go further. Can you please tell me how to create a interactive turntable flash in Animate CC/Flash? That would help me a lot

Really nice model and concept! How is the interactive turntable done, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Tara, I really like your character concepts of Gimlet , I am a digital design student from swinburne university in Melbourne, Iβm wondering if it possible to use your character in my part of project. As the project brief, we require to develop an existing character as a 3D model by using Maya.
This project is purely to develop my technical skills, so I will be fully crediting you as the conceptual artist, the final works may handing to my university and it will not be used in any business purpose.
Iβm glad if you would agree to me referencing your concept artworks titled βGimletβ
Pleas reply me when you are free, thank you for your time, and the great characters you have designed. Iβm looking forward to your reply.

Haha, thanks Jacen! :] Glad you like it And of course, if you like it enough to have it engraved into your skin forever, I'd be honored!
Somehow it actually seems fitting. Must be the mischevious look
So what's new since we last talked? Did you start your new job and everything? How are you liking it down there? :]

Awesome! I will send pics as soon as it is done...prolly wont get it for a few months, but still it will be awesome.
As far as work goes, yeah I have been working for almost 2 months now and it is pretty rad. I got a car and haha got my GED haha. I know that sounds kinda sad, but it is awesome since I haven't been as lazy since being down here. Getting my life back on track a bit. Nice area for the most part. It has its strengths and weaknesses like most places. Sometimes I miss Seattle, sometimes I am glad I am away.
How about you? everything still going pretty awesomely with school and your bf?

Sweet! I'm really interested to see how it turns out :] Do you know a good tattoo artist down there already? Make sure you find a good one! There have been people who've got tattoos of some drawings I did and like... yeeeeeeaaaah. Don't be them! I won't allow you to have horrible art on you, Jacen. It's simply out of the question
That's awesome!! I'm so proud of you. I'm glad you got your GED. That's a big hurdle out of the way. And pretty impressive, because I think a lot of people would just say screw it after a while. But now you can do anything you want! That's great :]
Stuff is tolerable here, haha. I kinda can't wait to get out of Digipen, but at the same time it's going by too fast. Mostly cause I feel kinda unprepared to start job hunting. It's like I'm on a conveyor belt running backwards like "omg, I need more time to finish all this crap and also build a portfolio and resume!". But I guess it'll be fine... hopefully. Everything's going well with Julian as well, we've been dating for 2 years and almost 9 months now :] Goes by really fast just like everything else! It's kind stressful right now with school and going back and forth between eachother's apartments and stuff though. In that respect, I'd really like to be done with school, get a job, and just get a damn house. lol. How about you? Met anyone special? :]

yeah to be honest moving away from everyone and just kinda being down here in Battle Ground without knowing people a side from those I work with has helped me prioritize things.
I actually had a question or more of a request for the tattoo. Would you be able to draw it out in a different style so that I won't have to rely on some tattoo artist to draw a 3D rendered picture haha. That would be more ideal.
You will do fine, you always do haha. Glad things are going to well with you and Julian. Soon life will be way different for you and you will learn to cope because like I said, you always do haha. As for me, I am as single as I have been haha. It is a bit weird trying to meet people down here vs in Seattle. Seattle is full of so many different kinds of people where as Battle Ground is kinda like Monroe...I am not a huge fan of Country haha. Oh well, maybe sometime down the line I will meet someone in Vancouver or Portland and we will hit it off. I'm not worried about it.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for some submissions from you too :] If you wanted to send me a heads up when you do upload them, that would be pretty awesome! Haha, but if not, that's cool. I will keep an eye out nonetheless! Just might be a couple weeks before I check my updates x_x; But yeah, looking forward to seeing some more cool paintings!

Real nice!
I wish I'd kept up with Zbrush over the years. I bought a license years ago and I still keep my version upgraded to the most recent one by virtue of the free upgrades they send out to previous buyers, but I'm largely just an animator and haven't delved too deeply into modeling since zoning in on animation. Stuff like this makes me wanna take the time to expand my skillset. β₯

dizzyclown In reply to kthxplz [2011-10-10 07:12:22 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a lot! :] Ah, yes, that is the cost of specialization! I guess I'm your opposite, I stink at animating XD But if you wanted to try Zbrush again, the latest version is cool cause it has "dynamesh" and you can pretty much just start with a sphere and sculpt anything you want without having to really worry at all about modelling or anything. It's nice if you just feel like messing around for a bit :]

I think the pretty cool part about 3D is that there tends to be a discipline that suits anyone of any type. Though I remember the teachers having an awful time finding any students willing to study rigging, since we only had one rigger for any of our short films and he was soon to graduate. xD
I did open up the new version and play with the dynamesh feature briefly. It was pretty neat! I remember a workflow that one of the teachers introduced to his class, where you go crazy in zbrush or mudbox and sculpt whatever you want, then use something called Topogun to completely redesign the flow of the topology and the poly count to suit animation deformation. That always seemed ideal to me, so hopefully I can try it out myself eventually. x]

dizzyclown In reply to kthxplz [2011-10-16 01:11:37 +0000 UTC]
I think you're definitely right :] And haha, yes, it's the same way at our school. In fact, there aren't even any rigging teachers... they have students from the past (like one)-- who learned rigging on their own time-- come back to the school and help us n00bs out with our projects. XD Pretty lame. But yeah, it's not the most fun part of the production process, so... I guess that's to be expected.
Anyways, I agree. I like to kinda work that way as well. Although, I actually just use the retopology tools in Zbrush because I find them a little more controllable and convenient than topogun. If you get a chance, maybe you should give them a try :] I think in the end, it's all a matter of preference, though. I just like the symmetry functionality for retopo better in Zbrush.. plus the fact that you don't have to export and import and stuff cause you're already in Zbrush XD I also heard that a program called 3D Coat is really good for retopology. Haven't really had a chance to play with that one yet, though!

kthxplz In reply to dizzyclown [2011-10-18 04:44:44 +0000 UTC]
Hah, well it's good to know my school isn't the only one that suffered from that deficiency!
Oh, I didn't even know Zbrush had retopology tools in it, that's how out of touch I am. xD I'll definitely give them a try sometime, then, since as you say, staying in the same program definitely cuts down on headache.

It was the first CG character ani class. CG275 maybe?
I'd imagine them and the lace were crazy complex to do.

dizzyclown In reply to Dorkette1990 [2011-10-16 00:52:59 +0000 UTC]
Oooooh, haha, cool :]
Yeah, the chains were a bit complex as far as figuring out how to actually make it work, but once I did, it wasn't too bad :] It's pretty much a zsphere string where all the zspheres have been replaced by a chain-link mesh. The lace, though, is actually pretty easy with the new zbrush release! There's a new tool where you can apply a texture based on UVs and you just have to adjust a couple sliders to make it treat the texture like an alpha :] I don't know if you're interested in making anything with that, but I could post a tutorial or something if that's the case. :] What do you want to do when you leave Digipen by the way? Like modelling? or 2D stuff or animation?
π: 0 β©: 1
Dorkette1990 In reply to dizzyclown [2011-10-22 19:17:32 +0000 UTC]
Wow.... if you posted a tutorial, I'd be forever grateful. It sounds like it would amazingly helpful.
I'm really impressed with the lace. It looks so perfect!
I want to model. I really love modelling and sculpting. I always thought I'd lean more 2d, especially animation, but 3d modelling is definitely where I belong.
What about you?

Whoa! Sorry for the late reply. I forgot about Deviantart again for a while. Man, school is busy :c Anyway, I will try to put together some tutorials over the break (which couldn't come soon enough!) :] Also, that's awesome. I feel the same way :] I didn't do much animation before coming to Digipen, but since it's "production animation" I thought I'd probably end up doing that too. But nope! I discovered I like modelling and stuff Do you want to go into games or movies ultimately?
π: 0 β©: 1
Dorkette1990 In reply to dizzyclown [2011-11-10 17:25:40 +0000 UTC]
So excited for the tutorials! And the break. Although this semester hasn't been terrible. But I would like to be able to do my own projects once in a while.
I want to go into games. Especially after having worked on them. I had a feeling I'd lean that way before coming here, though. There's a high school program run by Digipen (like the summer ProjectFun classes for kids, but more advanced) and I took that in high school. That was a nice primer for Digipen, because I actually did a decent chunk of programming in the class as well as art, and it was ultimately that experience that made me realize I preferred art to programming. Plus, the background in code makes it easier to understand programmers. Are you thinking more games or more films?
