Description Okay, so basically, this picture probably breaks the record for longest time in the making. I've sorta been coloring it, getting bored, coloring, getting bored.. etc. But I finally made myself sit down and finish it last night. I've worked on it so long, in fact, that I don't even have anything to say about it anymore o_o I think it came out well enough, but I'm just sorta tired of looking at it so I'm kinda detached... oh well, I hope you peeps like it ^^ I'm on to making more things. Yay! Oh yah, I also decided to make Dax's clothes predominately orange instead of red 'cause I think he rather enjoyed being orange

Also, I might make a print of this and put it on a T-shirt for a contest prize. How'd that be?

Furthermore, I know the perspective is one big stinkin' whack-job, but I just have not the patience to do anything about it. I'm afraid you'll have to deal with scrambled brains as you look at it

EDIT: I forgot to mention I'm not making a tutorial with this picture. I tried to start one but the piece is just too damn big and complicated. I'll make a tutorial with a simpler image so it won't be so confusing.

Oh my, thank you very much! Wow... you are always quite the generous commentor, aren't you? You rock ^_^ I'm so glad that you like the picture :3 Haha! You're right about that.. I think it was likely Jim Hawkins that inspired me to start drawing little ponytails on characters I think it ish a cute style X3 Last night, though, I was thinking Daxter's hair reminds me a little of Westley's from The Princess Bride I wanna draw him to.. *cough* tangent.

Yay! I'm happy you like the shinies X3 They took a reeaaaally long time to do. Probably will never do it again, but I'm glad to hear it was worth it

Actually, I really like what you did with the background -- it adds a nice atmosphere overall to it. (So I'm not seein' any 'whonky' perspective in the background, since it has much more life to it than an architectural drawing I've seen from the interior design students).

And a tutorial on how you did that scotch drink would be awesome, since props helps bring the whole compositions together.

Awesome ^^ Well I'm glad you like it then I'm very picky about perspective but sometimes I just get fed up and I'm like "whatever" but I regret it afterwards. But maybe it's not always as bad as I think

Ah.. yah, good idea. That would actually be fun to make a tutorial for that. I love drawing glasses of stuff *is a weirdo*

Far as I'm concerned after 11 weeks with Susan (Background Design), perspective is the least of your worries; as long as it looks good aesthetically... at least, that's what I THINK she said to me

Aaah, well that's good to hear then I'm really not very cut-out for perspective anyways.. it's way too linear for me.. I'd rather just do everything the way I feel it should go at the time It's just that I'm a little bit of a perfectionist as well so.. I kinda feel like I have to do perspective to make everything right. But if not, SWEET! X3

Aww well I am honored! I've never really thought about props that much. I haven't been using them much until the past month or so, really. But I'll definitely put up a tutorial if you think it would be useful It's true though, now that you mention it, they're very important to composition. I guess they were just one of those things, in my mind, that you do but never think of I am still a little naive, I suppose <_<

Wow, with each piece it seems it gets more detailed and even better end results. :3

I loooove the lights in this picture. How they reflect off of metal surfaces and how shiny the clothes are! I also love Dax's and Jak's expressions. I can almost see Daxter woeing about his lovelife and Jak's sorta just sitting there listening. Also, the oranges work very well for his clothes, I think. Great job!

Yay! thank you ^_^ Yah, the reflections and stuff were a lot of work O_o; I don't think I'll ever do a scene that's so metalic again X3; Waaay too much shinies to color. But yah, I'm glad you like the end result. I guess it was kind of worth it. Just a real pain X3

Yeah....about the tutorial. I understand completely. this would be waaaay to complicated. YES! YES! YES! I'm glad you went ahead and colored it, for a sec i thought you didn't want to. And it looks GREAT! I like: The touch of neon pink. I'm not brave when it comes to bright colors.
Second: Great attention to detail: the reflections of of the glasses on the table, and on the metallic surface.
A 10/10 and straight to the fav list! Great job!

(Pfft... should have given you my bluedude to color, I bet you would have done an awsome job... i always feel my coloring is a bit 'dry').

thank you so much! Hehe, yah, the pink tint was fun to do... I've tried doing neon signs before and then backed out.. But I decided to just go for it this time. It worked out infinitely better. Interestingly enough I kinda took the same approach to it as if I were coloring blood >_> ha. Glad you like the reflections and stuff too I had a lot of fun coloring the shiney stuff. I think I'd like to practice it a little bit more.. especially coloring large curved surfaces and drawing reflections of nearby objects... overall I'm pretty content with the outcome but I could probably make it a little more convincing in future pieces X3 Never be satisfied, that's my motto! ; Oh, and thank you so much for the fav! Much appreciated

Oh, man, no way. I totally idolize your coloring. It blends so awesomely and you always have a really cool sense of atmosphere with the crisp yet faded background elements. I like it a lot. The orange on Dax's jacket actually works rather nicely (most of all since you've made it a more pleasent orange and not something ultra-bright - so it still works nicely on the eyes, and matches his hair wonderfully). Infact, I didn't comment on the sketch - but I love the desin overall on it. Another great piece pose, facial and anatomy-wise too. Eep! I love skinny-bois!
