Description
I always thought that the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night character & costume design was a failry LARGE jump from Richter in Dracula X. He pretty much goes from "Bad Ass Vampire Hunter with Come Get Some! attitude" to "Prom outfit Vampire Hunter with a Come Hither~ stare". Now, dont get me wrong Kojima's Designs and Redesigns (even if they were getting a bit stale) but COME ON. They look like two seperate people. (and yes, i know *SPOILER WARNING* he was supposed to look darker because the Dark Priest Shaft had him possesed to control the castle, but they didnt even bother changing his sprites!)Long story short, i remedied my own problem, and merged the two outfits. I think i did ok. And i gave him the glowing cross subweapon (among others ) because that CROSS ROCKS! *best subweapon EVER*
*ahem*
Im still learning how to color so dont be too mean! hahahaha. I went a little nuts with the whites...oh well...
Done in Photoshop cs2
h pencil, micron 03 and 01 pens
"Tribute!? You Steal men's souls! and make them your slaves..."
"HOLY CROSS!!!"
*hell yes*

This is an awesome take on it, I love he inclusion of all of the subweapons on his person.
For some reason the PS1 version of the game used his old sprite - the Saturn version of the game had an updated one. Kinda weird.

Funnily enough I stumbled over this: [link] and raged because they apparently HAD a sprite with the outfit in the concept art, but nooooO! they had to use Conan the Merman...

I have been for a while pondering about doing a Richter Cosplay...although his costume looked rather...simple...and the old richter was rather dull...but this mix you've made, it's just awesome. I think he fits more as a member of the Belmont than with his other tuxedo-like coat. If i ever do this one, i'll be sure to give you credits and pictures of the result

I'm pretty sure that would make me die. As in, it would be so awesome, my cerebelum wouldnt be able to take the mental and physical strain of being so happy and excited, That it would in short order explode. That said, I WOULD BE SOOO HONORED IF YOU DID!!! you have no idea! ahahah

Believe it or not, Django, they actually DID make new sprites for the SOTN Richter, but for some unknown reason stuck with the old Richter sprites.
Incredible job! Perfect style, perfect attitude for him!
BTW, have you had the chance to play Rondo of Blood? You know, the impossible to find game for the "PC-Engine" that never was available in the USA?

Ta-da! hahahaha
And thank you! Ive been working alot on my coloring and shading. I've got skin pretty well down, but my clothes need some SERIOUS work before im happy with it.
Oh, and i have an idea: I think we should both come up with our own belmont, or lecarde, or graves....or morris...(damn, there where a LOT of vampire killers in castlevania) design..like our own characters, and then make a collaboration poster mock up. Sound like fun? Just tell me what you think. ^_^
I'd be honored to work with you!

this is awesome. i honestly liked his long hair, just because Kojima's thing with that is amazing, but i liked his old outfit. (wasnt his new one somekind of tunic? wtf? xD)
i love this though, its awesome. his colors are great, and that cross -is- ultimate xD
also, his skin? amazing. youre getting the hang of this in a major way.
id say you have it honestly xD
(also, i havent forgotten about your Sith, the pen mouse is being wonky, so ill get to it once its functioning again~)

Hahahah Now, now..no scolding oneself young lady! I've only just learned to color in PS myself, but ive learned a few things : Use the brush tool, set the opacity to about 20, and paint in lots of strokes. Also it helps to have at least three shades for everton 1 color you apply. So have your base color, your shadow (darker) base color, and your Highlight (lighter) base color. So in the case of blue, i had my regular blue a Very dark blue, and a Very dark (almost white) blue. Then just apply it in a way that looks right to you. If it looks rough when your putting it down, try using more shades. Lastly, once all of your colors are down, use the blur tool (at a low-ish setting) and mix your colors with that. There are other methods, but thats pretty much the simplest. Good luck! ^_^

Most wonderous! Oh I was wondering if you were interested in doing any projects? My boyfriend, David, contacted you about doing some concept sketches for his book...that's how i found your site...Would you have the time for something like that?

I would LOVE to work on such a project, though i must admit i know almost nothing about it. Nor do i know whether i am expected to donate my artwork, or be payed for my services...I sent him an email a bit ago regarding the matter, but it's possible it got screwed up over the wire. (myspace is infamous for..well...sucking...-_-) Do you know what the book is about?

The best way I'd say is to contact David via e-mail: comacritical@hotmail.com
He can give you more detailed information as far as what he is looking for and story wise. He needs someone to do concept sketches for characters in his book. As far as donation or payment, that is something you'd have to figure out as the artist.
