Description
I present to you Genma Gilgamesh and the sensational steam-priming Tesla Cannon.Sometimes the right tool for the job is the one made by an anachronistic mad scientist with a penchant for high voltage...
---
I'll be selling prints of this illustration and a few other Steampunk themed character (and Gadget) illustrations at my Artist's Alley table at this year's A-Cen in Chicago. (complete with steam-ed up picture frames that look bloody cool.)
If you like it, why not stop by and say "salutations"?
(sorry about the watermark, i've been having some problems with stolen designs lately. ;_; )

Didn't most people think he was insaine?

Depends upon your definition. He was most certainly obsessive compulsive, and had a need to do things in threes, going as far as to not stay in hotel rooms unless they were divisible by three. Jewelery (especially pearls) and physical contact caused him to act in physical revulsion, he was mysophobic, and obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness.
He also had a rather mad fancy for pigeons.
Now if you add his hatred of the obese, the un-fashionable, and utter disregard for any sexual life, one would certainly think Tesla insane. However, when you take into account his invention of the aptly named Tesla Coil, the AC current, and the Teleforce directed energy weapon, (two of which are some of the only reasons we enjoy the lives and electricity we now take for granted) we can only consider that his Genius heavily outweighed his need for our boring social conventions.

I love that spunky yet scholar look about him, i could compare him to a video game character, but I feel it wouldn't do this character justice he looks soo amazing

Very, very nice depiction here. Really liking it, especially the little details like the yellow/black 'caution' motif on the front of the gun.

Thank you! I really tried to put some thought into the Tesla Cannon's design, as i think it was more the star of the piece over the the character.

Well, I'd have to say that it very definitely worked, as the end result is pretty remarkable.
The whole picture has a wonderful balance between exquisite detail and an obscure/unclear feeling.

Would you mind If I were to take your concept and make a prop gun similar to it?
I ask only because it is your design after all. I was looking at it and I started to get ideas of things I could use for parts of this magnificent weapon.
