Description
I'm going to get a lot of grief for this, but I'm going to release this anyway. This script takes the selected flame and creates a script that will reproduce it. Some people think that is a horrible idea. I don't.Your end result is NOT something that you will want to share as is. You may as well just post the parameters because the script that this will produce will do nothing but replicate EXACTLY the fractal that it was run on. But this script can and should be a great teaching tool...especially when used in conjunction with my tutorial on scripting ([link] ). It basically automates what my tutorial describes (creating a script from a flame) plus adds things like scripting of the gradient itself and some of the rendering options that my tutorial does not cover.
I did not create this script. JFB, the author of ~Apophysis-J , is the original author. I have a modified version of this that I use myself that randomizes the placement of the "triangles" to some degree and doesn't specify the gradient or the variable values. These modifications are very easy to do, and I leave it to you to create your own modifications. If you cannot figure out how to comment out some lines or add some randomness to your script after reading my tutorial, drop me a note. I'll be glad to help you with your questions. But I am posting this as a learning exercise, almost as a lab project for my tutorial, and don't plan on writing your scripts for you.
One other thing of note. This script includes all the variables for all the the variations in your flame...whether that variation is used or not. These are easy to delete from your final result if you wish to make it smaller and "cleaner". Or, you can do like I did and not put any of them in at all.
As I stated in a recent post to the Apo mailing list, my hope is that people who would be to intimidated to start a script from a blank screen, or too scared to try to edit someone else's scripts, would be more encouraged to edit something that they have created themselves and learn that is it just as easy to modify the script variables as it is the edit the variables in the editor. I see it as one more tool to teach and to save time. It will be of some benefit to some people, not to others, just like any other script or tutorial, but it isn't going to harm anyone. It's not like someone has released a dangerous computer virus or something.
So, whether you think this is the Holy Grail, the Black Plague, or something in between, it is out there now. Love me or loathe me, I'll still sleep tonight. Feel free to agree or disagree with the decision in the comments.

Hi Daniel!
You said in an earlier post in response to another person's comment that this is for the "regular" Apo. Does this script also work for 3D Hack? I downloaded the Apo 2.08 because 3D was setting off my COMODO antivirus; but I'm hoping to go to 3D ASAP... after I make sure what I download is actually safe and is just a false positive. I'm hoping therefore that this will work for both versions. Does it?
BTW... your My-Fractals site was what got me started on DA!!! LOL! Thanks for the link! I LOVE it here!!!! It's my new home!!! I think I love this place even more than Facebook! That's saying a lot too since I'm a FB addict!! LOL!

As far as I know, it would work fine. Haven't done Apo in a long, long time.

Don't know if it's just me.. but I think there's a bug with saving the file extensions. Any ideas?

The script command used to write out the file, by default, expects that you are writing out a flame file. Just give it the name of your script with a ".asc" extension and you are good to go.

so there's no script function to save a new script
I think you should add that to the comments
as the "bug" is after running it, it asks to "save as type" .flame file and if you don't add the .asc extension it won't save anything.
I tested it on a random flame and it worked for me in Apophysis2.07beta as long as I typed the .asc extension to the filename.
For the script, I think it's a good idea as I have been practicing doing that already and it's going to lead to lots of new scripts that noone would have thought of otherwise

Get one of these for the regular Apophysis and I'll love it. Tried Apo-J last night and didn't like it at all.

It either isn't working correctly with my version of Apophysis or I did something terribly wrong when I copypasta'd the script over. Hmm...I'll tinker with it.

No problem. I'm not sure he made it really clear in his artist comment, but I followed the link from the Apo mailing list where Daniel was really clear.

I think you have the right to your opinion, Daniel. Not being at all interested in scriptwriting myself, nonetheless do I enjoy seeing what ideas other people come up with. More power to you!
