Description
Today I went to the monument to meet with the WWII Soviet veterans who saved us many years ago from the Nazis. While everyone was thanking this veteran he was crying..he couldn't say a word..he was happy that people remember their deeds..and remember people and soldiers who died during the war. I thank all the veterans who fought and made our world a better place.UPDATE: I got rid of the stroke and the USSR stars near my signature. This photo doesn't need decorations.
update2: minor color adjustments
Update DD: Thank you $Moonbeam13 and a friend who suggested (remained anonymous) Thank you, friends for all your comments! I will try to answer all the questions and comments! Thank you again!

My entire family fought the goddamn Nazis and three quarters of them died. I lost five great uncles and a great aunt to the bastards. And my grandfather died after falling down the stairs because the fucking Russian government didn't hand him his painkiller meds. And he was a field doctor who spent two years in the swamps of Manchuria waiting for the Japs AFTER scraping his name in the Reichstag. So, these men do not cry from joy. They cry from desperation. Living heroes are never wanted. They are better off dead to the governments that sent them to the razor's edge of life and death. Because that way - they cannot demand anything. May my motherland, Russia, washed with the blood of my family, BE CURSED to the pits of hell, for I will piss on the burned flag that shall lie on its grave. And not for myself, whom the country has damned to desperately penniless immigration, no. But for all those who have died for it in vain. May Russia disappear so it can no longer destroy its own people.

Stunning. It caught my attention immediately with the minimal color wrapped in a shroud of black and white. I found myself staring at it for a lot longer than I realized at the time. Great story and an amazing shot.

i first viewed and faved this photo quite a while ago. the majority of the photos and works of art that find their way to my infinite mass of favorites become momentarily forgotten, i cannot even keep track of everything that's there until one of these days; i decide to go back thru every single page and be reminded of the magnificent talents i have dicovered on this site. but this photo has found itself resurfacing in my memory time and time again. this is one of those photographs that has stamped me with its deeper emotional and thought-provoking connection to the human being, particularly this one, of a man that has been painted with a shade of war, of combat, fear, pain and loss, and perhaps others i could not comprehend. To him, the gratitude of those people surrounding him, and thanking him, must have a more profound meaning than anyone who was never in his situation; could ever understand. Maybe he is relieved, that he and all his friends' hard work was not underappreciated. maybe he is reliving the downward slides of his time spent in service and then all the times hope and perseverance lifted the soldiers up again. perhaps he could have a memory that would make him feel guilty? or is he washed in the fact that he was one of the ones that came home through the debris of war...? I like photos and works of art that make me think about these kinds of things; in addition to having an over all representation of some significant event or idea that changed our OWN ideas, and influenced ours, and other nations society. That is why this is one of a select few photos that has stuck with me since i laid eyes on it. ( Not to mention the wonderful lighting and contrast within the composition of the picture.
Beautiful subject.
THANK you Veterans!
