Description Today I went to the monument to meet with the WWII Soviet veterans who saved us many years ago from the Nazis. While everyone was thanking this veteran he was crying..he couldn't say a word..he was happy that people remember their deeds..and remember people and soldiers who died during the war. I thank all the veterans who fought and made our world a better place.

UPDATE: I got rid of the stroke and the USSR stars near my signature. This photo doesn't need decorations.
update2: minor color adjustments

Update DD: Thank you $Moonbeam13 and a friend who suggested (remained anonymous) Thank you, friends for all your comments! I will try to answer all the questions and comments! Thank you again!

Amazing photo, very powerful. I can understand it from a soldier's point of view... very emotional.

Unfortunately the Soviet Union is never clean from war crimes and justice hasn't been served yet.

Justice has been served a long time ago with a river of blood and millions of innocent people's lives lost in the Soviet Union and the world. Almost every country in the world commited war crimes and never payed for them. The past isn't worth debating.

I really love the color scheme in this. The black and white with a bit of color is such a classic montage for something of this nature. You've captured the feeling absolutely perfectly. I actually really admire the lack of any overt connection to this and the fact that this brave man was part of the Red Army. I'm not entirely sure if this is intentional or not, but the pin he wears is orange instead of red, and to me this really helps add some distance from the subject and any faction he may have. He is a proud veteran of the Soviet Union, yes, but he's also a veteran of a war, a man who fought for his country, and so it really empathizes the universal struggle, not just our national ones.

I feel as if, in America at least, there is an attitude that veterans should hold a calm, stoic visage, especially in public. While this is admirable, I find this gentleman's honesty much more genuine than to simply hold back. He deserves to know that we all still remember what he did, what his country did, to fight the Nazis, he deserves to show his emotion, his joy and his sadness and everything in between that is wrapped up in that war.

I don't know how much it matters, but I thank him for anything and everything he did during the Great Patriotic War. I owe my freedom as much to him as I do my own nation's soldiers. I will always remember.

For the motherland.

We could't possibly understand what it's like to be in war, and live to tell about it.

We would be honored if you let us show this in our group .

Of course, this is not a political photograph, but this man served that cause and the protection of his homeland. And that deserves so much.

That expression says it all!

War is an experience we only get a taste of in the media. The people that witness and take part in wars first hand are forever effected yet we still keep insisting on war as the only way to keep the peace. Something is seriously wrong with this picture!

This photo speaks volumes!
