after the goldrush and the dinner party quieted down I began to mention some thoughts I had jotted down on the boat ride through the delta that very early morning, when the geese flew over and the trains were chugging out of the harbor. I began at the end of my thoughts, just before I really had a plan what I might start with,
"even though life in black and white was quite nice, it did not really compare with the psychedelic colors of growing up in Hollywood!"

the phone rang, I told her to let the machine take it.

"Living under a microscope seemed odd," she said

I never really felt it was a problem, especially days when we snuck onto John Wayne's old ranch and stole pomegranates.
