Mario: Die, monster! You don’t belong in this world!

Bowser: It was not by my hand that I’m once again given flesh. I was called here by Koopas, who wish to pay me tribute.

Mario: Tribute?! You steal princess’ souls, and make them your slaves!

Bowser: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions.

Mario: Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!

Bowser: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk! Have at you!

I couldn’t pass up using this introduction. Now if only Mario and Bowser’s voice actors did this at a con once…

Continuing from the previous picture, where I showcased my Super Mario Maker 2 levels inspired from Castlevania, I had to make one more, and I was saving it for the finale. This one shows Mario and Bowser in their epic showdown, with Mario standing in for the Belmont clan, and Bowser stands in for Dracula. As soon as I thought of this encounter, I remembered an episode of the cartoon where Bowser dresses up like Dracula, and that became the inspiration for this picture, alongside Dracula’s many appearances throughout the Castlevania series as its final boss.

Drawing Mario was the easy part. Drawing Bowser in that suit however, was anything but. I couldn’t think of a way to get the cape in, and how it would cover his shell (and I liked seeing Bowser’s shell visible), so I removed the cape entirely. Dracula’s tunic however, could still be added, though it obviously had to be adjusted to fit Bowser’s measurements, and I left in the high collar and attached it to his tunic. He tore the sleeves off though, which I was fine with. He couldn’t wear Dracula’s boots, so I just left him barefoot. I studied how his wedding suit looked, and based Dracula’s tunic after it. I also got a lot of help from Mario and Bowser’s amiibo as well, and I made his front teeth longer, like vampire fangs.

It’s a remix of Castlevania’s final level, complete with two Bowser battles, which references Dracula’s two forms. I submitted this level in the original game, but now it’s new and improved! The level takes place at night too. Grab the hidden star near the starting section if you need it.
