Отличный урок! Хотелось бы ещё небольших технических уроков от автора ^_^. Например, её предпочтения процесса ретуши, приёмы используемые чаще прочих или, возможно даже, подсмотренные у кого-то и активно перенятые по причине объективной рациональности и удобства ( тем, которые использовала ранее ).

надо экспериментировать 
про кисть. иногда появляются сильные засветы или наоборот черные тени. тогда берем кисть, пипеткой выбираем более подходящий цвет с другого участка лица и чуть закрашиваем блик / тень

I have no luck in photoshop unless I am texturing a 3d object and sadly, that isnt as tool instencive as some may think.
I've used what I call a Frankenstein method once before for a painting I did called Homage to a Pearl that was actually somewhat like this, but I stopped the moment I got only the features correct enough to look like what I was going for.
I did not attempt what you have here and now you've definitely opened my eyes to an entirely new way of working with photos to get features ( I've always done a 'body chop' for poses, but faces? Buwah!)

step 1: the main point is that you take many photos of different girls (but in the same pose) and put them above each other with opacity from 25% to 75% (in this tutorial opacity was ~50%), trying to create nice half of the face (left or right - doesn't matter), then copy this part and flip it horisontal, so you get nice simmetry. sometimes I use different layer styles (overlay, soft light, ... with different opacity)
step 2: I copy different parts of face and transform them, then again - copy left part and flip it horisontal
other steps are rather common
