Description
Hello Clone Wars fans! I bring to you today a piece fueled by Clone Trooper United's COTW (Clone of the Week)- while it features other troops and that one orange trim commander, the main subject is of course the man taking a moment to look at you- Commander Ponds!Besides my having an exclusive 3.75" figure of the commander, I loved his debut in the series (and of course hated his departure with a blind passion equivalent to that of a sun going supernova). You first see him much like we were introduced to Wolffe in Abregado, in a fleet service dress on the bridge of Mace's Acclamator entering the atmosphere of Ryloth. Then the next episode you see him don his battle regalia, running through an AT-TE convoy under fire from AAT's opposite of their position and debris from the cliff side, where I assume he was returning from or leaving the end of the convoy to link up with his General at the front. In my opinion he exhibited all the traits you want to see to gauge a commander's ability in one episode, hurrying his troops to cover while under fire with the stern intonation in his voice and even leading a charge in AT-RTs. But besides his combat assessment prowess, he displayed compassion for the locals whose homes were leveled by separatist bombardment, by issuing out rations and supplies. Another factor I liked about him? He actually uses a primary weapon besides his blaster pistols. As much as I love troops who dual wield pistols, that is reserved for more close encounters- rather than say Rex trying to use a pistol like a sniper rifle, when at that point he's best providing suppressing fire. Rex has used the rifle and carbine yes, but of course prefers his pistols. But Ponds sported a rifle upon debut, a logical armament for medium to long distance targets and I hold him in high regard for that.
Ponds aside, I included all the trooper types featured from the episode (minus Cody, I felt he needed to be there as a key member of the command staff) from the standard clone, to the AT-TE pilot (Who you only see on two instances, this episode and the Malastare Zillo Beast introduction), to the ARF Trooper (1 of 2) and Ponds himself.
Thanks for your patience and continued support, until the next piece, I'll catch you on the bounce!

Lest we forget! He is intentionally not here because I have him saved for another piece dedicated to the fallen of Ryloth. But good eye!

Your choice to have Ponds break the fourth wall is excellent - especially in light of the description for this piece.

Thank you so much for that, I always look to my audience for their analysis of these pieces- so they may point out things I may not have noticed. So much more meaning to what I scratch on paper when I read comments like these. Thank you truly, my friend.

A good drawing is more than just lines - it is also a story, and you're good at creating that.

I literally saluted my screen. I loved Ponds so much, and sadly he is so often overlooked and forgotten. He truly would have been as notable as Rex had he survived. One of my favs for all the reasons you mentioned. I have the same figure as well. I cried when Ponds died.

My sentiments exactly! So much potential, especially when Windu's troops later on used his paint scheme!
