My automail for cosplaying as Edward Elric, but that's me being very Winry in the middle. =3I used a pattern I found online as well as multiple pictures of Ed to get the basic idea on how to make it, as I'm trying to make it as close to perfect as possible, minus me actually missing an arm. It is still a huge work in process however. I'm having a few problems with the blade sliding out correctly, fittings, visible skin needs to be hidden...etc.
The thing is that unlike most, I'm doing this the hard way. The hand is painted, and yes that means after a con, I have to re-paint it in parts where the paint faded. But I like it as it looks so highly realistic (the pictures don't do it justice) that that's what I'll do for a good cosplay.
Eventually I'll probably switch to Wonderflex...XD When that happens I'll either sell this or get it to Vic Mignogna.
Automail Hand made with: Green craft foam, Terra Bella Finishes - Metallic Accent Wax: Antique Silver, black elastic, black string.
Grill made with: Green craft foam, black elastic, black string, metallic silver sign vinyl, and snaps to hold it together.

I have an idea for the Blade, made the blade somehow to put a lock that actives deactives with a magnet with that you make 2 magnets, One with a form of a ring and one inside the lock system of the blade.
Another way with magnets is that with magnet in form of ring u guide the blade to come out

You prob thought of it, but there are all kinds of light, metallic looking fabrics. . . or better and easier yet use one of those tight, long evening gown type gloves underneath. You can paint the fabric with spray paint through peg board to get a polka-dot chainmail effect. That idea worth anything?

How I got the hand done I have no idea. 
I'm actually working on the full arm right now, and all I can say is praise the Lord for hot glue guns and metallic silver craft foam paint! XD

I think I know the one you mean, but she recently took her guide down in order to put up a nicer version of it, and it's been that way for a whle. D: But, that's okay as I'd rather make it on my own and say it's my creation, not something I made from a pattern.
As for selling it...we'll see. If I become too attached to it, I just might keep it, bbbbbbuuuuuttttt if somebody offers me enough money...>_>

XD Sounds like what I did at Otakon by accident. I had the hand for Otakon, and I didn't park close...I think I scared a couple people going back to my car.
Anyway...I'm probably going to take commissions in the future...that way I can keep my precious first automail and make some molah make other people pretty automail too...
